I truly believe that everyone has the ability to better their situation on their own if they are so inclined. They can have a better life if they want to work for one.

Hey, fair enough. And I am proof of that. I grew up in a very terrible situation as a kid, and I started off at Schneider national back in 2003 just to get the hell away from my family. And now I work for what I consider to be one of the best companies in the world.

I just don't like that this industry preys on such a high percentage of its employees.

And if enough people left the evil corporations would be forced to pay more to attract workers. Trucking is way too easy to get in to. You can get fired from McD’s today and be somewhere signed up to get your CDL on Monday. That same person has the ability to go from novice driver to being a successful business owner if they choose to work for it. Nobody is keeping anyone at their low paying job except themselves. The OP said they get $10 an hour after the first two. If you’re there three hours that’s $3.33 an hour. No way would I put up with that. But his boss has people that do. So he has no motivation to change it as long as he has employees happy with how it is.

I’ve enjoyed the back and forth, but you’re not going to convince me that we need the FMCSA to save us. So I’m going to bow out now, have a great night.

Hey, you too. And I don't know what the answer to any of this is, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

I've seen it as bad as detention being paid to the driver after 4hrs. WTH kind of crap is that.

It is laughable, many drivers cry about the regulations but then they want more to have them get more money.

The thing is don't ask for something that you will regret later on.

We are in the service industry, we don't dictate to the customer, they dictate to us.

If the government demands someone pay for detention, where does the money come from?

The carrier forced to pay you because the customer won't, then something will be given up, maybe the carrier forcing more work out of the driver or just limiting the driver in other ways.
