I was so tired one night some jogger kept staring at me and no matter how fast I ran the truck, he stayed right there staring at me. Finally realized I was looking at my own reflection.
Popped a couple more pills to wake me up and kept the hammer down.
I had left Ft. Lewis, Washington with a military truck on a flatbed trailer going to Wilmington, NC. A husband/wife team left the same time I did and I beat them to Wilmington.

Let's just say slapping myself to stay awake. Back in the 2010 days being dispatched like a nut about to crack. 2 hours of sleep per day avg for 3 days at a time running east back to the Midwest. For CHR loads at .25 cpm.

Yes, you do... man. Wannabes everywhere, eh?

ps: I've done some 'dream driving' in my paper days. Even recall dreams to this day; heading to MI and swore I was en route to Miami.

    Be safe, Six. Miss y'all.

I've never been so tired that I hallucinate but I have woken up in my sleep thinking I was still driving. It's pretty scary. Hate it when that happens!

Hahahahahaha I wish I could say that it wasn't just sleepiness. That actually happened my rookie year. I remember drivers telling me little things about fatigue, like seeing things that aren't there, or not remembering X amount of miles. Ever since that night, I hesitate to eat a Little Debbie cake

It is. I got so tired one night when I pulled over on an on ramp, I fell asleep in the drivers seat. Then when I woke up I thought I forgot to pull the parking break. I thought the truck was going downhill like a rollercoaster

It’s happened to me many times, especially when I was new to trucking. I call it the “trucker’s nightmare.” Is there currently a name for it? That’s it. If you’re reading this. I coin this phenomenon—the “Trucker’s Nightmare!”
