    20190709_152550_resized.jpg

i told them i liked this yard (i've been to this job site before, but they moved yards since the last time I was there), it has trees, and shade and the lake is right there.

tongue and groove flooring (and underlayment) for a gym floor. and yeah, look at that mess on the back. I told the guy whatever is in those boxes is going to be flat.........is that ok? cuz you know, that kind of crap should go in a van......................

Nightmare of a job site. Cleared the construction entrance fence by kissing the cone/fence and the turn into the actual job site wasn't much better. Then the guy is like "oh you can just drive straight out (and you could)
ummmmmmm really I realize i'm a flatbedder, but I can back up. (would have been so much easier)

    Was that your escort?
My first job out of high school about 45 yrs ago was for a caterer. We serviced an airline at our local airport. The airport gave me a picture ID(which I lied about my DOB so I could get into bars at 17) Anyways, we put a yellow strobe on a van and I could let myself through a gate and proceed onto the tarmac. I would go up on the planes (BAC-111's and DC-9's) by myself to service the galleys...
Fast forward to a few years ago, I delivered to LaGuardia Airport...after spending much time with security checking in, they finally lowered the spikes so I could enter and follow an airport cop out onto the tarmac to make my delivery...

    Ruthless Thanks this.

Bricks look all nice and uniform until you stack a whole bunch of them together. You'll find that one that's .1" smaller than the rest when it starts wiggling its way out the side of the bundle at 70mph.

30 mins to tarp a 3ft high square load is easy insurance to catch a loose brick before it ends up through somebody's windshield.

    yep
get to gate, call contact. guys comes over after 30 minutes, go up to guard, fill out paperwork, give license, etc
    wait in line
get inspected (I guess, pretty sad, i'm not feeling real safe), then follow escort along (BTW in that pic i'm probably 10' or more behind him, hoods have zero close up visibility). and then get into jobsite. took a good hour from showing up at the gate to being on site.

I told the guy "man that sucks, you have to do that for every load?"

    EVERY LOAD

for 1.5 years and he's just the rod buster (rebar tier)

    what a pain

yesterday, go and get this concrete base. it's slightly oversize (9x9) so had to flag it up. doesn't look like much right?
    20190711_084103_resized.jpg

look at it from this angle:
    20190711_084127_resized.jpg

one solid freaking chunk of concrete. something like 32,000lbs

and from pulling up, removing and putting away straps and protectors, flags, banners, getting paperwork signed and them taking it off with a crane.

    12 minutes
    twelve.

So then they send me to a lumber place to get some cedar. So I go i nside, the guy hands me the pick ticket.

    Ummmmm, are you sure?

    yeah, that's the company

Call the customer contact, yeah that's the order
    20190711_124724_resized.jpg

that's right, 2 boards, 12 feet long. two

so i call dispatch, he says "go over to this other lumber yard (that i just drove by 15 miles ago) and get another load for the same company.

You can see where this is going right?

    20190711_133933_resized.jpg

the entire loaded trailer. Two separate pickups. To a dang apartment building near a mall (yeah, that was fun)

The trucking probably cost more than the wood.

oh well, it's delivered, sign here.
