The content of the picture section on Hank is invaluable covering trucks, some technical sheets, trucking history and stories, some old time advertising and an infinite number of truck pictures some of them illustrating extremely uncommon speciments. Without exaggeration we can say that we have here a very large part of the trucks and trucking memory.

I would like to get your attention about three short texts that I wrote showing how the non conventional mindset and the `` we will do it `` attitude of the TNT upper management helped to overcome highly hostile operational environment at regional (TNT Québec), nationwide (Kwikasair Express cdn) and worldwide (TNT International Aviation Services) scale; the Group being often perceived as a serious threat by governments regulators as well as by competitors. The `` TNT WAY `` of doing things have often had an effect of disruption in the markets targeted by the Australian Group.

Rene, what happened to Texport? Are they still around? Or did they go out in the early "2000s'?"

Even if Texport was linked closely to the Alltrans/Comet/Kwikasair group, Texport outsourcing supply and maintenance of its rolling stock to Alltrans; the fashion division survived to the closure of Alltans but suffered a lot like all the other TNT divisions operating in the east-west corridor. The number of employees was reduced by 85% and the turnover by 75%. The Texpress transport department was closed and the long haul lanes entrusted to the truckload sister divisions Roadfast and TroAir and the outsource maintenance of the local distribution fleet switched to Overland Express. Texport continued to operate as an autonomous division until the late 90's. After the take over of TNT by KPN, Texport was gradually integrated into the much larger TNT Logistics division.

The last chance that I had to take a photo of a Texport unit was in 2003 at the Texport warehouse in Toronto.

You know what company I forgot to mention on here was USF Glennmoore which was gobbled up by Celadon in like 2008 or so. Was Glennmoore part of TNT or were they a USF offshoot?

Glen Moore was an independent truckload carrier bought by USF, late 90's or early 2000', not sure exactly when. They then were part of the USF group acquired by YRC Worldwide which bought them to have a non-union truckload carrier.

Great management and laid back culture at Glen Moore but sadly during the YRC reorganization Glen Moore was sold off to Celadon which discontinued the brand, liquidated the assets except for the Carlisle terminal. They bought them for access to the few hundred drivers and some freight.

The first foray of TNT Freightways in the truckload sector was the launch from nothing of the short lived Comet Transport Inc. in September 1995 in the purpose to operate a truckload line haul service linking the TNT Freightways LTL networks between them.

    Comet

The Comet operation being too small to earn money, the new entity USF now totally independant from TNT Ltd. decided to sell Comet to CRST in September 1997 which got also a three years contract to continue to link the USF regional networks between them.

In August 1998 USF tried again to enter in the truckload sector this time through the acquisition of Glen Moore to which was integrated, in August 1999, Underwood Trucking an Indiana based TL carrier and five months later Tri Star Transportation a TL Tennessee carrier. Alltogether the TL operatons of USF accounted for 4% of USF 2001 consolidated revenues operating 600 owned tractors and over 2,000 trailers and giving regular work to 125 0/0.

The rest of the story is tell by brian991219.

To whom who could be interested, I would like to let you know that my TNT truck pictures collection is hosted on another website since few weeks. As my TNT collection has developed in all directions over time during the years it was hosted by Hank; I took the opportunity, this time, to rationalize and restructure it. So, now people can easily links the trucks on photos with divisions operating them and put these divisions in perspective in looking the TNT North America Financial & Operational Organizational chart which open the collection.

I hope you will enjoy the photos related to that carrier who though outside the box.
