Always make sure you have plenty of following distance (for your speed) and pay close attention to the traffic not just in front of you, but further ahead, especially when driving through cities where traffic is known for coming to a complete stop right after a hill or curve. For the rare cases where a vehicle makes an improper move and takes away your following distance and brakes on you, then that’s when your dash cam comes into play. Again, for folks reading this, get one. You’ll thank me later.

He was not paying attention, and driving safely. He should have been fired, so his employer was correct to do so.
At 70 years old he is due for retirement anyway. If you need more income why don't you both get a job at Walmart, cleaning homes, or something. In my company policies, are automatic termination for a rear end collision, ticketed or not. As are mandatory retirement at age 65. Those rules are clearly stated in their employment contract they sign as well.D.Tibbitt, okiedokie, FlaSwampRat and 1 other person Thank this. -

I had a minor rear end collision and was fired, so I went to craigs list and was rolling again for a small company. After 3 years went by I was good to go back to the mega company if I wanted.

Have YOU been working? Having 2 incomes these days is common, it’s not 1955 anymore where the woman cleans the house all day while the husband works.
As others have said, basically starting over at 70 in trucking is pretty much a lost cause with the companies that would take him. He’s coming off of a preventable accident and like it or not, age discrimination is alive and well and a much more common form of discrimination than others. He’d seriously be better off drawing SS than going to some craphole like Western Express.
They say to save your $ for a rainy day. Well here it is, it’s raining...REALITY098765, okiedokie, MartinFromBC and 2 others Thank this.
