She has treated you well if you're the original owner or if not it has treated everyone well in the process. It is time to open her up & do heart surgery. It has 1.4mil on it. I wouldn't keep running it like that. The green monster has performed well. All the best to you

 

Water or moisture in your airlines is an air drier issue DRAIN THE FRICKEN TANKS and fix the drier.
Why would you be adding 8 ounces of oil?? There is a reason the dipstick has an add mark on it.

 

It will also be a little easier on the compressor if you adjust the governor right, there is no need to be building up 150 pounds of air.

 

Pop on a new $20 air governor,, change the dryer cartridge. Compressor should cut out around 120, when it cuts out the dryer cycles.
A governor has a piston in it that slides back and forth, the compressor does not shut off, it just bypasses the air back into the intake.
A stuck governor will cause your type of problems. The compressor uses engine oil and air comes in hot from the turbo boost, bad rings in compressor will let oil by but not trying to get to 150 psi may slow it down.

 

It’s a compressor issue if that, not the motor.

 

Sounds like a compressor issue. I have a 12.7 60series. 600k miles on it. When you stop they all slobber a little bit of oil from the blow by tube, if your not adding gallons between changes and your pressure is handy 50psi on the highway you have no worries.
You can sample your oil when you do your changes, I sample EVERY change, make sure it's a good lab not the bench top from the quickie oil change places.

Don't replace anything other than the compressor and the dryer.

The governor would NOT cause a problem with air building slowly, it would be an issue if you have a problem unloading the compressor or that you don't build air above 110 psi and it unloads the compressor.

 

Being that your running from a dry heat to a high humidity heat you may just be building condensation in the tanks. And you may not be pumping oil, you may have an oil film in the tanks that develops over time, every compressor pumps a little oil, none of them are perfect, even new. If you've ever looked at the workings of an air compressor, there are a lot of small intricate parts inside them. Anyways, when the warm air gets in the tanks it could be breaking down some of that oil filter making it resemble oil in the air system.

Personally, I would monitor and watch your oil level on the engine, if it does not change, I'd move on from the compressor for now. The compressor is pumping hot air, so include the humidity in the air, cause it's drawing in outside air and 2+2=4!! Now if your shooting moisture on the ground, that means your drier is working, however if you have never serviced the cartridge, you should consider doing so, the change in climates can put added strain on it. They suggest you service them every year or 2. I personally do not.

Also, moisture in the cab air blow gun is of course moisture in the system, keep the tanks drained and that will stay cleared up. We've had an interesting summer in some areas that's affected how some things operate.

Monitor first before you throw money at it. See when you notice the most amount of moisture in the tanks and on the ground and report back.

 

Oh and whatever you do with your drier, stick with name brand parts, Bendix, wabco, Midland and so on. The foreign import cartridges sometimes use a cheaper desiccant or cheap media inside and don't do the job it's supposed to do.
