i remember..going east on i-40 through amarillo..had a 1200 mile trip. I had gotten some good rest but as my name says..im a night driver & we all know in between the hours of 12am - 6am..the body is asking for sleep. I slowly began to doze of from the boredness of the nightly road..i began smacking myself to stay up..couldn’t quite keep it there..after almost 2hours of fighting my sleep i finally pulled into a rest area & messeged my dispatch to inform them im pulling over to rest for a hour..let me mention..i was swerving as if i was being pushed around by wind but i managed to fight it before pulling over. Lol be safe out there driver. get some rest. pull over if need be.

I have hallucinated a few times while being extremely sleep deprived. One time a group of trees on the side of the road turned into a giant turtle that looked like it was about to cross the road. When I slammed on the breaks to avoid it, the fear and adrenaline snapped me out of my hallucinating and allowed me to continue on.
Not proud that I allowed my self to get like that.FlaSwampRat, D.Tibbitt, frizzbees and 1 other person Thank this. -
serioulsy though, better to be down on one knee in the garden or talking with someone with eyes open, then to be on the road when that "could have" happened.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

Just put a tire off the pavement and the gravel wakes you. You will be awake for like 3 days! Haha airplane lights.

It’s always nice when your equilibrium gets screwed up and while looking out a side window and you see a car drift forward you think it’s you moving backwards and you stomp the brake pedal.

My first oilfield job back in 2010 I was up for almost 3 days chasing rigs (no drug use lol) Drove an international 9900 sleeper stretched into a flatbed. Drove from Clarskburg WV to right outside Pittsburgh Airport. About a 2 hour drive. I don’t remember any of it. 3 guys were asleep while I drove. They had to help me out of the truck when we got back to the shop. I was completely zoned out and disoriented.
I was old enough to know better but did the wrong thing anyways. Back then my stupidity controlled me lol.D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
