You have enough experience to find something local. I worked one place and anyone who could shift got an old truck and auto only got new ones.
    Auto saves fuel.

He got his auto only CDL 5 years ago but only drove a semi for 2 months. Id say backing is going to be more important than anything else at this stage. Id think he would need a refresher course and then go to a training company.

    Acostaelias132 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I would keep researching until you find a company you are dying to work for. Then I would make a decision about whether you need to get the auto restriction lifted. I drive a tanker for the last 2 years. My truck is auto. Manuals are a fading requirement for most of the industry. The people that make money selling training will always make it sound like you MUST buy more training JUST IN CASE it helps you find a job. Find the job, then decide which training you need.

I’ve been searching for class A jobs
Yeah backing is what I am most hesitant about right now considering it seems like manual is becoming outdated. Not sure if my local college offers a refresher course but the CDL course is only 1200 plus I would learn manual anyways. Doesn’t sound bad to me right?

Which city do you live in?
You can probably go right into tankers from that 10 wk cdl school.
Or, hire on right now with a company that uses automatic transmissions and get right to work.
