It's sad..that's what they want. New guys they can get to do whatever they want, they train people to be useless now. There are more and more people like me leaving 20 years in, that was never a thing in the past. They used to be about packages...now they are about numbers. Let's say new guy drives past your house by accident (let's be honest, as drivers we have all driven right past stops by accident) Orion (their dispatch route planning software) doesn't route back past your house....he's taught to follow that thing 100% no matter how wrong it is (the system is terrible by the way, it was designed for otr and a guy running 2000 miles with 3 stops, not 68 miles with 200 stops). God forbid he turn around because he would have to put the truck in reverse...that is a ####ing sin at that company because they coddle these ####### so they can't back up without hitting anything. So realistically it's probably not the driver with a service failure, it's the company. If you track every single one you will see they will put them in as bad addresses from time to time so they can bill the shipper $5 add correction fee and not pay a service failure..this is the kind of #### that made me leave. Now let's talk Amazon...you see how bad UPS is getting? That's because it's being torn apart to cut cut cut from the shareholders. The company is over 100 years old and can #### up....what chance does Amazon have when they are starting out that way? See how Walmart is declining now due to Amazon.... Walmart was unstoppable right? Never gonna be affected by anything because they were too big and powerful right? Amazon is kicking their ###' now. Amazon is starting out with the cut cut cut and #### jobs...not getting to that. When the shareholders want larger dividends where do they cut the cost from? They can't unless they build robots to put the toilet paper and iPad in the box which they very well may. The people that are getting all these *great" (I say it like that because that pay is good in some places and terrible in others) are ####ed in the long run....they better hope McDonald's will take em back.

The one mcdonalds in our county was torn down. The building and the cost for utilites have gotten excessive. Rumor says they build new one in 4 months. So that maybe they will be profitable again.

I tell you something a few weeks ago I got coffee there one night it's supposed to be a friday night with a quiet night life but four employees, plenty of robot koisks and maybe 4 customers in a place that would be able to hold around... 200 or so at most. Its gone. With dozens out of work.

I understand two chains are closing in the area as well, one of them in particular Freds made their living offering somewhat cheap pricing. And sometimes there is not enough floor cash coming in outside of Pharmacy to keep them afloat. So they are closing as well. Probably permanently.

The morale of the workers around here is not half bad, probably due to College and dreams of a better life into the future.

I have decided that everything we are or used to be is gone. Grinding to a halt outside of medicine. I think medicine will be the next big deal going for the next 40 years or so as people age faster than we are birthing babies.

In my last surgery I had 6 total nurses, teams of two 24/7 run by a charge nurse above them. Some of the younger nurses, one 19 year old in particular had ex and I appreciative of her obvious training and skill. She is going to be Charge nurse someday if she can hold on and get through the shoveling of crap imposed on everyone new by employers. 50.00/ hr salary? that'\s a real possibility.

One nurse (A CNA actaully, there are basic orderly (Usually muscle) then CNA (Cleaners extrodinar'e followed by LPN, licensed by the state to do battle with injuries and trauma etc., And there are your RN's just below doctors.

One nurse in particular did not want to be there. The whole week we were there she could not be bothered to clock in and show up for the few tiny things needed. I mean tiny because I don't require much. Except one big needle if the body throws a fit. (It did twice. I made sure the doctors did not say the word seizure. I told them it is the pain past my tolerance while the dumb hospital insists on tossing tiny doses of Norcos that do nothing.)

That nurse I think was about 22. She will not be a nurse the first chance she has to GTFO of that hospital. I see her with 4 kids a string of boyfriends and so on. The other 5 were on theball, have dreams and on track and so on. They were awesome.

Espeically if I am paying for a 2000 dollar a night room and a 1500 dollar a day floor fee to go with the nights. You would think I would be at the Waldorf Astoria for those kinds of costs.

They handed me the bill. I would have to turn over a total of about 4 years of my future income to them in cash and not have a penny to my name to pay for it.

And we still have trouble staggering from one large problem to another in terms of money.

Maybe the next time I go there to get chopped up and fixed proper, There will be robots in there.

No way that's Amazon. If it was all the #### would be piled on the dash so they can't see.

If its works for you or your area, good for you!
I personally don't no how people can even think that's a good wage.
Back in 1989 local jobs paid $10 a hour. For a single person after taxes that was $302.85 take home per week.

How much should the job pay? I don't get it. If you are worth more go get more somewhere else. I'm no Amazon fan, but you guys act like they are driving down wages of all conveyor belt box shuffler's everywhere.
Sometimes I think it's important to live in the world as it is, not want you want. 500 bucks additional income a week and benifits to a house might be the difference between Independence or wellfare. Jobs are good. If its not find a better one.

10 and hour in 89? I was getting hosed for 4.25 in 96. Reason I stopped working for other people in 01.

$15 isn’t bad nowadays, as long as they ain’t on welfare I don’t care.
