My parents were like that... very skinny when they were younger.... they gained some weight along the years but they were never fat....
I have always been as skinny as a stick...:biggrin_25523: Maybe if I had had kids and if I had not been on my diet for most of my life, I might have some more flesh on my bones.... I have no idea how my health condition would be though... I know that I have more energy than most people who are many years younger than me.... I don't have so many health issues that so many people my age have....
But I do have some health issues that have nothing to do with diet... Stress for instance, is one of the things that can cause many diseases and even kill you. Lack of activity is another really bad thing for the body... Lack of sleep... really bad too.... :biggrin_2552:

I'm not sure if that's only my imagination but it looks like this place has more foreigner drivers than American drivers... What I also noticed is that every body I interacted with today in this truck stop didn't seem to be in a good mood... they were inpatient, in a hurry, didn't smile, didn't say "Thank you" when I held the door open for them... Maybe they don't know how to say that in English... Who knows... Every body seemed to be in a bad mood.... Except the "older gentleman"... and he seemed to be an American...

All my life until about a year and a half ago, I never weighed over 5 pounds more or less than when I was in high school.
It did move around a little when I was in my forties over about a 6 month period than stayed the same till the last year and a half. I lost weight to where I was the same as I was in Jr high, have gained about 20 pounds back, but it isn't in the same spot. lol

I am lucky and not much ever stressed me out much, but sleep and long hours have been a factor for sure.
Driving truck, even though I generally pulled flats, steps or lowboys, you just do not get enough exorcise.
That is one reason I never could figure out why guys would fight over and crash into each other trying to park in the front row at truck stops, I always wanted to walk a little anyway.

I stopped at a truckstop east of denver once with a huge dirt lot, I literally had to walk around a truck parked right in front of the door to the place, about the same distance to go around the front or back, so went to the front.
Something caught my eye when I was rounding the front and it was the driver on an exorcise bicycle just peddling along in his big old volvo. I couldn't belive my eyes. lol

The owners may have put a bunch of money into it over the past couple of years but it is still a bad place to be. The local 4 wheeler clientele seems to be a high percentage of drunks a druggies. That place is just bad news. That community actively enforces their "no truck parking" ordinance. So folks are almost forced to park there unless they know of unpublished/friendly hiding spot nearby.

It is located near several major distribution centers a good chunk of them refrigerated with midnight delivery appointments. And those places have a "get off the property when you are empty" antagonism. So that stop is constantly packed with people that were detained for a 00:30 delivery. And they are waiting to get dispatched and their sleep time/reset to end. Those distribution centers are typically serviced by the lowest price haulers which shows in the people that frequent there.

The chain truck stop over by the port is still closed for remodel as far as I can tell. So you are getting all the overflow scum from there also.

There was also a stabbing there in 2016 that the police have not figured out who was responsible or why. My bet is a deal of some kind gone bad or rage carried over from a bad incident at a receiver.

WOW.... :biggrin_2556: Thank you for the info sir. I didn't know... never parked here before. I saw a hotel and a dirt lot across the street with a few trucks... thought about parking there... but soon realized... nah.... :biggrin_25512: I bet that lot is rented to some truckers, maybe locals... I saw some vehicles there... they look as if they were saving a spot for a truck....
Yeah.. I have parked in some truck stops that are not very "good" places to be in... there were vagrants, prostitutes, peddlers, a lot of dirt and such....
I walked around this parking lot today, walked in to the repair shop looking for mud-flaps... but didn't buy any...
It's still day light here.... I would like to see how this place looks like at night... but may be asleep then... I parked in a good spot... easy for me and others to leave... :biggrin_25519:
Will pick up a load tomorrow morning about 6 miles from here....

The other day, when I delivered not very far from here, I parked at the receiver's dock... I saw a few trucks parked on the narrow dirt shoulder of that street all night.... I saved the address... in case I need someday...
