Thanks for the play by play.
Dumb question: Is the joint stronger with the 3 passes of fill welding vs cutting/grinding an angle on the ends for a smaller gap to fill? Just curious.
I don't have the machines for pieces that big, but you never know what's gonna end up in the bed of my pickup on the way home from a garage sale or swap meet.

Amen! I have a 11×11, and a 15x15 with me sometime. If it needs more I won't haul it, or side kit goes on.cke, 1951 ford, Shock Therapy and 12 others Thank this. -
Today's project: remove Mallory dual point distributor and see if the factory original will make Ol' Red run. Maybe if I can go drive it around the answer will come to me on which engine to transplant into this thing. The 312 Thunderbird is tired.

I sometimes laugh at what gets tarped up here. A sawmill not more than 10 minutes drive away from me stacks lumber outside in their yard, it sits there for weeks like that, then occasionally some truck driver will tarp it before hauling. They could see it just sat outside, but then they tarp it. The big plywood plant I drive past regularly, and haul equipment to and from, stacks lifts of plywood outdoors sometimes, but then some clown tarps it for a 3 hour drive on a sunny day without a cloud in the sky. My all time favorite was a truck getting ready to unload at the local building supply store, I saw him taking the tarps off a load of sidewalk pavers. When I asked why, his answer to me was " I tarp everything ". Best thing that can be done with tarps is burn them if you ask me.
