I know I'll ace the pre-trip and maneuvers. Feel great about my road skills too. My instructor was comfortable enough to take a nap the last time I took the wheel. Keep thinking about auto fails though.
Stall out
Curb catching
Impeding
Any suggestions? Other than "don't do any of the aforementioned. Also, any auto fails that I may have missed?
And about the emergency pull off on the free way. Are the steps:
Mirrors, turn signal, pull off, hazards, controlled brake, engage parking brakes, shifter to neutral, tell instructor that if I were to stay longer than 10 min. safety triangles 10, 100, and 200ft behind trailer, release parking brakes, low gear, hazards off, turn signal, merge when safe, upshift?
I only know from what fellow classmates have told me. Had a oversized class and somehow never got a chance to practice while getting my road hours.
Road Test Tomorrow..

I think the emergency pull off is a bit much.
You are going to provide your Testing Person a good enjoyable ride in your semi. You do like giving people rides in that great big 18 wheeler right?
Get a good night sleep and rest be motivated to go over everything asked of you. And relax. Don't be thinking about autofails. (I think you may have a railroad crossing you might have to deal with, if not done correct, it will be a fail.)
Pretrip, get in and drive.
You should be ok.
Remember the school teaches anyone enough to not do stupid damage or kill hurt people while taking the CDL road test. Once you have that, at your first load given to you by dispatcher, that means your real schooling starts now.
Just tonight I was schooled on driveshafts and you learn something. Never stop learning.Gambosa, KNGPIN and motocross25 Thank this. -
Don’t sweat it and don’t overthink stuff. I could be wrong, but I think a lot of what goes on over there in the jump seat is them evaluating how comfortable you appear. You’ll be nervous don’t get me wrong but if you’re sweating, crying and soiling yourself over every turn and maneuver, I think they can sense you might be out of your element a touch. Sounds like you got it down and know what the focal points are, so just try to relax. Other than that only tip I can give that I didn’t see you mention, but you may know anyway, is if you’re in a manual don’t shift through and intersection, or over RR tracks. Also keep an eye on road signs you come up on. My examiner asked me twice after we passed a sign, “what’d that sign say?”. Good luck and give an update tomorrow! You got this.
Gambosa, FlaSwampRat and KNGPIN Thank this. -
Do not shift while going over railroad tracks.. That’s an automatic fail.
Good luck to you tomorrow..Come back and let us know how you did.Gambosa, FlaSwampRat, Hulld and 2 others Thank this. -
Also when I took the test a hundred years ago they didn’t want you to shift turning a corner from an intersection or it was an automatic failure.
But for the record I’m pretty much thru the entire low side now when I complete a corner from an intersection lol.Gambosa, FlaSwampRat and austinmike Thank this. -
The idea for this being that the examiner needs to see your head turn to check mirrors. It is heard to pickup head movements, but if they see a hat moving then you will meet the requirements.Gambosa, MYSTYKRACER and KNGPIN Thank this. -
FlaSwampRat and CrappieJunkie Thank this.

Gambosa, FlaSwampRat and austinmike Thank this. -

Smh. Blew it on parallel sight side.
Aced pre-trip, straight-line, and offset left. Got to parallel with no points. Racked up 13 pts. Worst part is my instructor told me afterwards that I had got the truck in the box at one point and completed the maneuver. A simple honk would have had me on the road. Nope. I overdid it, jacked it all up.
7 days to kick myself before I take another crack at it.skellr, motocross25 and austinmike Thank this.
