    @Texas_hwy_287 -
    I've seen local contractors in my city doing switches for Holland, as an example. They don't do actual delivery routes or individual small pickups, just drop/hooks at big shippers. That might be why you don't see the contractors with Saia pups and liftgates, just vans.

    @Bob Dobalina I actually spoke to the contractors, the way I understood it pays per piece and weight. Also they have regular routes but im not sure if they have a bid for certain routes. One thing for sure is when you star with palletized you start as a company driver hauling saia freight then palletized will ask you if you want to become an owner op.

    Man thats crazy. I would figure saia wont need contractors with the good benefits especially free healthcare after 10 years of service and ot.

    Supposedly yes, they have and still use contractors in the southern states, but only down there for whatever reason, out west here, the former West Ex and Action Express operations that Saia bought have always been company equipment and drivers from what I was told, Saia also utilizes a linehaul contractor called Varna trucking I think, see them every so often with Saia trailers , just like what TLI does for Estes.

    Well Denver is booming. Too many jobs. We got very active oil fields also. As a driver you can write your own ticket if you got a clean MVR. We got a new young gun TM. He better slow his roll and Saia or they ain’t gonna have anyone to move the freight. Can’t rule with a iron fist here. Too many good driving jobs hiring.

    Sitting at 51.5k for the year. With the raise might see the elusive 100k.

    Not mention finding people that have the balls to run that region, earlier this year I ended up a GNJ, and central utilized me for a couple days running GNJ to DEN and back, it wasn't snowing at that time just a little slick, and had no hazmat so no Loveland pass detour, I give you guys alot of credit Radman, I imagine you guys get used to it, but man that I 70 is something else.

    We run a lot of hazmat on that lane. My first year running a single axle in the snow and mountains in my career. This winter was one of the worst in snow in the mountains also since I moved out here in 2007. Once the snow started flying we had acouple new drivers quit. I landed one of the bids.
