I left them a few years back.
I lived in S. California and I called dispatch to give them my 2 week notice while I was delivering in Tucson, Az.

Surprise surprise... they told me to just drop off the truck in Phoenix that same day and then left me stranded, along with all my stuff.

Never again will I give any advance notice; best thing is to request home time and then drop off the truck at a pre determined ‘safe spot’ that has prior CFI approval. Then, clean out the truck and then call dispatch with a nice bid of adios amigos.

Don’t even fret about any company record; whether or not you gave any type of advance notice doesn’t really matter; they just look at employment start and end dates, accidents, quitting while under a load (which you didn’t do), and any possible citations.

When I left as a company driver, I left the trailer at the drop yard in Phoenix (they had orientations there) and the tractor at the Kenworth dealer then went Greyhound home. (No car; that's only on the way in when you start) I spoke with my dm first and didn't have a firm date. They worked me back from Illinois or Indiana so I got some money along the way. Took about a week.
No notice when I left in June as an IC, I was just going home for time off but found out on my last day out the Patterson yard had closed. I used to leave my mt there and bobtail home. No room at home for a trailer. It was already slowing down so spoke with my dm about leaving the company. They had me dh to fontana to drop the trailer then bobtail to my house for total 725mi. I thought they were only going to pay to drop the trailer. They got me home both times. One was a bus ride and the other was making money to drive home.
Read through the cfi employee handbook. there should be a link to it on your driver dashboard. I don't know if it's CFI, but one of the places I worked had it in writing that if you gave notice and did it right, they'd get you bus fare home. Don't know why you're leaving but there are way worse companies out there. Try to leave on good terms.

Nor would most drivers. I know by gosh if I’m behind someone going up a grade and I can’t pass with expedience I’ll just slow down myself. Not that much time usually till that left lane is fully clear or a spot where I can get around on the flat. Now if I’m slower in front and do slow down it’ll take me much more time to get back up to speed because I may be heavier so in the nd I’d be the one getting held up while super trucker owner op sir is 5 miles down the road laughing at how pathetic my truck is
