Once again, I have to say this is not my experience, but then I rarely turn down loads, even ###### ones. Because after the crappy ones, there are always good ones.

Don't get me wrong, I'll complain to my dispatcher with the best of'm when I get those lousy loads, but I'll run them, and he always takes care of me, eventually.

One has to remember that trucking is a job, and jobs are not always fun. That's why you get paid to do them. :biggrin_25525:

I am curious about the terminal in Seattle. I have contemplated going to work for their Canada run. I hear alot of good and a lot of bad but am curious how the Canada thing works. DO you run ALL of Canada? Or is it just primarily Seattle to Canada and back?
I am willing to put up with a little crap as I ran for KBR in Iraq, so as long as no one is shooting at me I should be fine.
    Any advice would help greatly.

It's all of what you make of it. I have been here for three years and yes I am disgruntled a lot of the time but it's my own doing. Trucking is in my blood BUT I also cherish my time off. I get there most of the time on time but sometimes I get home late and that ticks me off to no end but the miles are good. If freight is short you have to use your head to be one of the drivers that is getting it. I can't explain how to do it you just have to figure it out on your own. My biggest gripe is the east coast. Why they even have terminals over there I have no idea. A load to Atlanta from far away might sound all good but after you spend two days on live loads for Wal Mart and searching for empties that Atlanta run suddenly ain't so great. I go east when I have to but it's rare. They compliment me when the job is done right and never say a word when I F up. I am happy here and you may or may not be. The best thing I ever did was not listen to anybody and try Knight out on my own and see how I liked it.

One more thing to consider, I am a million miler with a clean driving record and three employers total. I always like to have a back up plan in my back pocket for my own benefit. Guess what nobody will call me back. Luckily I'm content for now. Take what you can get and be thankful for a job, if you don't like it look for something else.

If I had known about this forum before, I NEVER WOULD HAVE GONE TO WORK FOR THEM! Things are so bad there now they have discontinued their lease operator division. They may be allowing some lease operators to remain. Those drivers are not able to cover their monthly bills and make NO PROFITS!

First of all, read what I wrote about my 93 days there. It will answer a lot of questions. I wish I knew about this forum before I was a suffering employee.

The biggest problem with Knight (in regards to the drivers), is the senior drivers (more than 6 months) are not speaking up about all the problems. The reason is that Knight WILL tell you to clean out your tractor if you don't wish to be on layover for several days waiting for another 300 mile trip that delivers in 3 days! By the way, don't asking for your hard earned layover pay.

If you are a real driver and wish an answer to the problems, do NOT apply to work there. Knight will make up things and sabotage your DAC report!!!

    I agree.

The only thing positive about Knight are their customers. I never had a problem. However, one of the problems with Knight is having to wait a few days to deliver the load and not get layover while waiting for the next 300 mile run!!!

Do you know how bad Swift is to work for as a driver? OK. Knight's new nickname is "Red Swift." Understand now?

The top 10 worst companies to work for have earned their reputation. "Red Swift" wants to be in the Top 10 and will stop at nothing to get there!

Read my story about them. It will answer ANY question you may have. If not, get back to me.

I've had attitude issues with the people up there. Drivers crap in the honeybucket, inside only for office people, getting ignored when needing help and completely wrong local directions. Last time I was through, there was a older person there, and people seemed to jump out of their seats to help me like their little college booties were on fire. So something might have happened and daddy might have come home to fix problems.

So it's better than being shot at I guess, and if they have fixed their college kid better than you problem, it might not be that bad of a place.

Sad Panda, thanks for the info. I spoke to a guy named Jonathon who seems like a used car salesman but still fairly polite. Kept trying to 'Get me a deal!' so I was a little put off but the job market being what it is I don't know.
I have had lots of interviews in the Seattle area for truck driver and I am not sure if it is just a liberal town or what but when they see KBR and Iraq they almost fall all over themselves trying to show me the door. Actually had one guy ask me why I needed a job as I made 'ALL THAT MONEY!'.
Do you still work for Knight? Is the equipment pretty good. I wouldn't mind going to work for them and driving the Canada run I would just like to do that and not get sent half way across the country.
