I like your picture, did you take it? A lot that did FD and DG accounts can tell you the same thing as I am saying, plus it did not help that Werner changed the pay,I can understand them wanting to cut down the accidents on them accounts but the way they did it sucked and it did no good to tell them it was wrong,26 cpm and 3 for being on time and 5 for safety that was fine till some thing happened like your truck broke down and you only got 1 or two loads in for the week then they took the 8 cents for you did not run the required 3 loads so that week you made 26 cents for maybe 1000 miles if you got two loads in.From what I was told they cut Dollar General drivers worse but only the ones that are new to the account.I did both but DG you had a better chance of getting hurt then FD because DG uses the rolltainers and brake failure on lift gates does happen but not real often and a few drivers had them roll on them and put their arms against the trailer wall and got hurt. Both are planning to build more stores and I doubt if Werner will be able to handle it but only time will tell.BTW the new drivers on FD start at 25 if I remember right dont have the paper work on it.

Yup, I'm a whiner. That's what I was told when I asked for advice to advise hubby. I don't know what's going on with Werner, I'm not a trucker myself, but I do know there have to be some management issues when they have trainers that treat their trainees like they're subhuman and keep using trainers like that... nobody really got the point of the meals and showers issues since they spent more time not rolling than rolling while the trainer would deliberately go to truck stops or nowhere to prevent hubby making his own decisions on whether to have a meal or a shower or whatnot... plus the fact that the trainer is also incompetent and spends all his time on a supervisors watch list... which of course being the trainer and the trainee being subhuman and all, the trainee has little to no control over stupid decisions, either.

Hubby is willing to do what it takes to make it in this job and all I was looking for was advice since he can't get online to ask for it himself. That's okay, we'll figure it out ourselves. Thanks anyway.

With Werner and trainers its a hit or miss and if his SDM can not help him no one can and I know of a few trainers that had no business being a trainer.I know this will not help very much but he has very little options at this time, maybe when things get better he will, best thing for him to do is look while he is sitting, there are a lot of truckers books at truck stops, tell him to get them and start reading them and start calling.

Thanks, CT. He has been looking and most want 6 mos. experience minimum. He finally did make it off that truck and they sent his trainer off without a student although there were a few students waiting for trainers. Maybe they're about to get it together on the management end.

His biggest issue and mine, really, was being stuck on a truck with an incompetent who treated him like he was less than dirt. We'll just have to take it a day or week at a time from here and see how it goes.

From what I've read of these boards all of the companies have their ups and downs and, quite honestly, you'll find that anywhere with any kind of company, not just trucking. We know somebody who has worked for Stevens for 18 years; won't think about going elsewhere until he's ready to stop doing long haul, but there are almost as many bad posts here about them as there are Werner.

You are right a lot of them have faults and good points and your big companies have more faults because you are a number not a name and when things pick up he will start getting calls if he still is looking but if he can ride it out with them for a year or better then he will not have to start over and I did not train with Werner or any company,I learned the hard way,my Dad and he was worse then any Werner trainer....lol..I have been around truck drivers all my life and you will always have some that will say some thing you do not like or not what you want to hear but that is all people not just truck drivers. The only problem I really had with Werner is they talk safety but only if it cost money and any FD or DG driver can tell you,you got to be alert at all times or you will get hurt,if you did get hurt its light duty for you so all it cost them is the doctor bill unless you go to a hospital and only one did from a heat stroke that I know of..One thing with Werner you better tell husband,do not listen to road break down on anything that might cause damage if he moves the truck for if he does and some thing happens its his fault, they once wanted me to drive to TA or Petro to get emergency air line fixed for it was leaking,I told them no for if some thing happens its my fault. A few drivers did what road break down told them and got a chargeable accident because of it.

I as well as you worked for werner for the last 6 months and they do not seem to give the miles I quit may 12 2009 and I have to say there is alot of trucking companies hiring and they do have the miles to give I do not know why it is so hard for them to give the miles and the ones who get them are teams or trainer trucks and now you got 6 months in they will tell you if you train they can get you more miles but I say if you have to train with a company then it is messed up you should get miles no matter what but I know how you feel and my advice to you is get the hell away from werner as soon as possible I had 4 weeks when I was on the road and I made 0.00 dollars and those four weeks and it aint cause I cant do the job its the ######## they give you going and droping emptys and going to get emptys after you drop one and then you get a good load and you have to split it out that is so screwed up but I would look hard if I where you I got my truck in feb 2009 and stayed out till may 12 2009 I took no home time just kept running on the road hoping that they would give me some miles cause I was willing to stay out but they did not that is the day I decide to quit I made 6000.00 with them in 6 months that really sucks.........

Werner and the big carriers aren't for everyone. Those carriers don't work for everyone and not all trainers work out for the trainees. It's really too bad as there are people who may have become good drivers and good employees for the company that they started with.
If a person is seriously having problems with his/her trainer, the company really needs to know it. I'm sure there is a point of contact at corporate who can be made aware of the problems. That's what they're there for and all you have to do is pick up the telephone and make the call. IF a person doesn't make the call to report the situation in the truck, then shame on them. IF it's reported and nothing is done and the situation is unbearable maybe it's time to move on to another company.

Still Broke after 6 months. Just got my last check from Werner $6.61. Thats with 2900 miles. Deductions almost $600. After all this time my gross has been $7800 Gross. Net pay $2400. Those considering Werner-., with all the hype and promises should avoid this company. There are no promises with Werner. They are FREIGHT PIMPS and those who drive are the hookers. They will lie, leave you stranded for days without a load, and then expect you to keep running so all those in Omaha can go home to their families on the weekends. There is no I mean NO SUPPORT from dispatch. They accept no responsibility for their messups but your butt is on line 24/7. Thanks C.L! God have mercy on your soul.

Sounds about right but CL does not run Werner his stupid kids do,I say this for I doubt if they ever drove a truck.Did they charge you 75.00 dollars to clean up a clean truck? They did me so guess someone needed 75.in Omaha or they needed it for their fuel lottery...lol...A lot are hiring and even have holiday pay,6 for sure but I never got one from Werner not even a thanks for working it while we sit at home with our family getting our holiday pay or the ones who do work it in Omaha get extra pay.JMO.

Wow that is good 75.00 dollars is better than the 265.00 dollars they charged me because I drop the truck at a drop yard and not a terminal and then they still have tried to put it on my dac report even though I did not leave it on the side of the road like some have done I took it and made everything safe and left the keys and all at the drop yard werner owns but they charged me or trying to they put it as a unscheduled stop even though I was out of hours where I eneded up with it and as far as they go I have friends still working there and one has took 30 days cause he as well as me have been making 0000's on our checks and the other one was in MA and they dead headed them to TN now I ain't to much of and expert on this but when they do it they call them relocation loads and are soppose to pay you loaded miles and not deadhead with them if you drive empty you make 0.15 cents a mile and when loaded on 48 out of school 0.26 cents a mile loaded but I did some of these relocation loads and when I did finally leave I learned they where only paying me dead head miles even though they send it to you like a assgn load to you and it says in it clearly fleet manger manual load trailer when driver sends mirco 2 in so again screwed over by them I say anyone thinking or even wanting to go to work for them should really conisder and oh god I know they got DG and FD but you should really really really ask what you make on them before you go do it I will say J.B.Hunt runs FD and they make alot more than werner pays there guys and if you wreck a trailer or even scratched or tear a yard up whatever someone calls in on you your are off DG or FD forever and I know there is some guys on here who can answer that one for you. Also anyone who is going or thinking on going to them for oretion or just got out of school experinced drivers that recurtier has promised you the world they do not have apu's on all there trucks and they promise you a dedicated run that they can not give you driver placement has to give that to you I know what I am talking about I have watch sevral sevral drivers quit Werner in the last few months and some who just started oriention they where lied to and so they left and some of the guys who have quit have been with werner for 5 to 10 years and some less but I am telling you I am almost 100% sure on this I think in my opinion werner is the worse one out of all of them guys been waiting to go to oreition thats great for you but one you get there 4 to 13 weeks on a traineers truck you have to do 300 hours driving and then when you come back no truck to assgn you you go home or go back out on the truck with the trainer choice is yours but most likely you are going home to wait by the phone and most was 2 to 4 weeks before they told them to come back and get a truck oh yeah you been gone to long we need you to go back out do another 50 to 100 hours on a traineer truck again trust me it happens I seen it for 6 months and if that traineer leaves in KY and you leave in NC your leaving in KY till your done with your hours or you can take a leave after a 150 hours but I am sure you will pay for that some how and some way.........
