Looking into a new career path here, my first post and question! Deciding whether to pay the money and go to a local school training or sign up with a company outfit. For obvious reasons, there doesn't seem to be any company sponsored outfits here in Maine (and only a couple driving schools). If you choose to go to an out of state company outfit, how do you get the actual CDL if you're an out of stater? I've searched for an answer on all the company websites and failed to find an answer.
Thanks!
CDL, trucking schools and from out of state?

you sign up for training, they "give you" an address of thier place.(you will live there as well)
you get the training, then you pass the DMV road testing there.
then you go home, and change it over to your state.
some others, you get the permit at YOUR home state, go to school with them, then take the road test in YOUR state.
you would have to travel to Avon MA for Parker truck school, or to RI for NETTTS, then do this every day for x amount of weeks. NETTTS also has a school in North Andover, MA

inquire at each location.
fore-note, get this done before winter, you do not want that LOONG commute during the winter. -
Which city are you near in Maine?

Thanks, buddyd, and I believe I am going the local training route. Looks like two places to choose from for me.

I don’t have a price on Region 9 yet, but NTI is 6 grand. Ouch. Region 9 looks more like it’s run by real truck drivers to me and more personal. More than likely less expensive and good reviews as well.Gambosa Thanks this. -
Chinatown Thanks this.

yeah, pay your own way, this way, you don't sign any "contracts" for training with a company and have to honor that contract. (well we should all honor contracts), but the difference here is if a better payng job comes along, you have to pay off that contract, then leave, or get hit with a bad credit report.
that can hurt you down the proverbieal road.
