one of my exes had a dog. i had to take the p/b into the bedroom, and lock the door.

darned dog would suck up peanut butter faster than i ever could, if he got his paws on it....and that ain't no lie.

The problem is right there...you should have been wrenching on Mooney's in Revelstoke. I do my own basic maintenance on my Mooney, things like oil changes, tires and brakes, but for an inspection, or actual problem I fly it to Kelowna, or if it cannot be flown, they drive 3 hours to me.

Surprised it is used that much.
Here maybe 1 in 1000 trucks has a CB radio in it. I personally have never driven a truck with a CB, and I started trucking in 1985.

Dont get a duffle bag that has a hard bottom, it makes optimal storage tricky in some cases. Get a backpack thats like a dufflebag that can be propped in corners or stuffed in a cupboard just like Ridgeline suggested.

If its heavy the shoulder straps will be a lifesaver when you arrive to the terminal and cant find your truck because someone moved it. Its a bit of a routine for me. Lol

Korea is hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. Changed a starter / generator at 3 am outside and it was 14 deg and winds blowing like crazy. I think that was the coldest I have ever been.
I will take the heat anytime , we have a house in the Philippines on the sea and I love it. Tropical / hot :)

Well I guess things have changed a bit in the last 38 years .........
When I went to work driving dinosaurs back in the olden days .
All you really needed was a drivers license , a map , a job , and a load of freight , a couple weeks worth of clothes and a shaving kit .

You don't need to have a full kitchen , a big screen tv , a months worth of clothes , or even a GPS to start trucking .
All you need is the willingness to learn a little common sense your head on a swivel and most of all when you screw the pooch ( and you will) know when to stop before you make things worse .

I am not saying that all that other stuff won't make life a little more like home but is just that stuff and if you this thing right you have the rest of your driving career to get all the extras .

You will learn trucking is a world unlike anything you have ever dreamed of . Welcome to the adventure and good luck .

Our hangar was right beside "The Tank Guy" in Ft Lauderdale. He had a non-stop business repairing or re-doing Mooney wet wings. Those are great little birds. I envy you.

Wherever your new employer tells you to buy fuel, make sure you get a rewards card from that seller such as Pilot/Flying J, T/A or Love's. The points add up quick and can be used for food and especially showers which can get expensive. During your first year, you may find yourself completely broke, and you can use the rewards card to buy meals.

I think a company that I am looking at has fuel and their terminals and cross docks. but sure I will hit a truck stop now and then.
I am retiring in December and with that , Social security and savings, I hope I don't find myself completely broke but I am sure it happens with younger drivers just getting in.
    Good info, Thanks
