AGAR was the company before Rhienhart took over..AGAR "just got" the union in, like (i think) a few short months earlier..

i'd suspect that with the sale of AGAR, the union was still in place.

however, unions can be broken, maybe even de-certified in some situations.

i do not go to my former employer anymore, since i retired, too far to drive, just to "chat" with the former co-workers (who i hated anyways) or the Penske mechanics, as they too changed many things, and i highly doubt the guys i knew are still there, or on that particular shift, to give me anymore information.

Ok, well your a rare breed if you can do the teaming. I don’t know much on Reinhart but Mclane is a pretty good company to work for. They treated me fair and the managers were easy to get along with. They know the struggle of the job. You can make money there. Be dependable and they’ll love you. I finally got tired of the loading by the warehouse. They were making things not safe and unorganized. Warehouse workers have it tough though. They just keep shrinking their times down so they don’t give a crap and slap palllets together. We had warehouse guys quit when they went home for lunch. But it was still 10x more organized in the trailer then US Foods and probably Sysco.

Overall they have their issues but they are IMO a good company for Foodservice to work for if you don’t mind the physical job. A lot more organized then US Foods and from what I hear Sysco.

Do not go to Reinhart in Oak Creek. I thought it was bad years ago when I worked there, but most of their management went to UNFI when they opened in 2015 and its been turmoil ever since.

I delivered to those 2 companies (in the Cincinnati metro region) when I was at my last job, but I don't have direct knowledge about driving for either one. However, I do have some observations.

McLane (Hebron, KY) had a very nice new clean facility. They had newer trucks and trailers kept in great shape, and the staff both in the office and warehouse were nice and helpful. They had their act together and never held me up when I went there, so I never minded going.

Reinhart (Cincinnati, OH) had a raggedy facility, raggedy trucks and trailers, and everyone I dealt with on a regular basis seemed miserable. They seemed to be poorly run and I was usually delayed for an excessive amount of time there, so I dreaded delivering there.

It may differ at other locations, but this is what I observed and experienced at the ones I went to. Based on that, I know where I definitely wouldn't want to work.

A couple of years ago one of my work buddies stayed at the same hotel as a rinehart driver and they chatted quite a bit. He said rinehart is very strict with their cameras. Two hands on the wheel at all times, no eating or drinking or smoking or touching the radio. Absolutely no phone use, hands free or otherwise.
First I’ve heard of the PFG buyout. I don’t know a lot about PFG, except I heard that pay wasn’t on par with the other big food service companies. Once from a PFG driver I took out for a road test, and from two different customers in Indiana whose father, or brother or husband or some other male relative, worked out of kendallville.

I don't understand that kind of restrictive behavior from a company. I don't like the inside cameras, but I know I've set mine off while eating and never heard a word. As long as you remain in control of the vehicle, and don't do anything illegal or unsafe, they leave well enough alone.

GFS has a warehouse in Kennosha, but probably has a drop lot somewhere near by.

I don't know much about Reinhardt, except all there trucks here in Cleveland are absolute rubbish and look like a bunch of junk going down the road and they lost there biggest account Subway, I don't think Reinhardt was a good company I never heard anything good about them.

i never drove more than (say about) 30-40 miles one way. my last employer (that i retired from) was 35 miles from my house, one way.

when i was younger of course, i graydogged it, back and forth, then got smart and American Airlines it after that.

no job to me was ever worth so much travel time. gotta think about how tired you will be when you get home, and that is IF you survive the drive home, after being up all those hours, working.

i am also reminded of that wally world driver, that lived like what, 10 hours from the d/c center..??

and he's the one that slammed into that limo killing the comedian and severely injury Tracy Morgan..???

cuz he arrived at work, TIRED, then had to start his job....

that's an extreme situation, over say, driving one way, for 1 hour.
