Things have changed, I never thought I would see the day folks were happy they were building a new loves. I always considered them to be a fuel stop at best, not a truckstop, and sure never looked for one to sleep at.
When I ran otr, I liked to stay at a place that had something to eat, and usually ate when I shut down, so loves was not a contender on that count. Even if I wasn't going to eat, I liked to get up in the mornings and sit down and have a waitress bring me a cup of coffee, this was a pretty important part of my day.

Trucking has changed, They don't want the younger generation sitting with others,Learning-Talking- Developing friendships-etc. Its....Hurry up,Get your Fuel,Grab a Subway- and go to bed.
Heck,Many of these guys don't even support fuel stops other than fuel- They Pack the fridge for the week... Not a Good way to Live on the Road- Being a Hermit will Drive you crazy- And you wont last long out here.
But ,Change is always a good thing right??WildTiger1990, Intothesunset, Rubber duck kw and 1 other person Thank this. -

About 8 that night I took it out for a test ride and swung into the local McDonald's to see if any of my fellow gearhead buddies were around
Just ideling through the entrance when I hear someone yell out "Junk that POS "
I slowly stop and drop it into reverse and begin to Fry my Mickey Thompson 50s
I didn't do this for more than a couple seconds before I had a cop reaching through the window that I didn't see walking out of the side of the rstaurant yelling at me to shut it down.
I yell back no I will park it but not shut it down, he yells back shut it down I am noway If I do it won't restart because the starter was fried.
He goes ok park it. I didn't have the hood on it because I had no one to help me put it back on at the house, so he is checking out the engine and asking me where the hood is.
I tell him what I've been up to the last 36 hours and he is like it sounds good and healthy but you can't be doing burn outs in the parking lot .
I replied I was aware of my surroundings and was taught at drivers Ed to never ever speed in parking lots and residential area because you never know where a little kid will pop out of.
Besides I barley moved 5 feet in reverse and I was ready to get off it when he stopped me.
He says ok but don't let me catch you again and we start BSing again
Than up walks my buddie I hadn't seen in months who was the one who yelled out at me.
The 3 of us shot the Krap for a while before he left.
No Cuffs, no impounds, no tickets. Ah the good old days.
I couldn't own a fast car anymore because to me it would be a waste.
I almost went to jail 3 years ago peeling a little bit out of the car wash onto the main road in my exs G37 Infinti, which is barely fast.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
I left high school fishtailing in my 69 goat convertible and gassed it a mile to the gas station. I already had thegas nozzle when the local cop came sliding his tires to a stop. He ask what I was driving like a maniac for. lol. I told him I was in a hurry, someone had called and our hogs were out, so he let me slide.
I lived in a one horse town, you can take a sledge hammer and hit a light pole nd the street light will go out for a few minutes. We would start on the end of main and race from one to the next and get all the lights out.
We just had one cop there and he wascalled out, this was during the rodeo and fair weekend. He was chapped because he had been called in and we were drinking beer on a parking lot (church) he askif it was any of us. I told him it had to be one of the out of towners that were dragging main, and if we saw him we would catch him for him. lol
It wasn't long before a out of towner I knew came gassing it downmain, 4 of us run to different rigs to chase him, I took off across the parking lot before he got there and cut in behingd him, chased him out of town and across the tracks down a dirt road before he stopped. It had been raining and I stopped in a huge mud hole behind him, my buddy who was on my tail stopped behind me THEN turned his lights on, it was not my buddy, but our cop. lol He stepped out and I gassed it and spun in the mud, I had big mudgrips on my pickup and covered his car, windshield and big stetson with about a half inch of mud before I got enough traction to leave.lol
I went back to the parking lot and all my buddies were still there and told me the cop was chasing the guy when I cut him off. lol
He came back after he had wiped enough mud off and ask who was driving my pickup. I told him Iwasn't sure and ask if they had had covered him in mud. lol. He made me go home. Yea it is a different day and time, a guy can't eventhink about getting away with much of the stuff we did when I was a kid. -
To get the topic back on track. What quadrant of the intersection are they building the Loves? Same side as the truck stop/smoke shop or north/south side as the toll gate?
