things are getting rocky at my current company I was running over the numbers... a typical good week which used to be every week was 3000 miles 2800 to 3200 now it’s a hit or miss. But with that said I’m making 1575 gross on 3k miles when adding all the benefits. 71 bucks for health premium paid by company. 60 dollars loyalty pay. 51 dollars 401k match comes out to basically 1750 total for that week on 3k miles. Now I have no freedom don’t pick my own loads governd at a low speed go how once a month. With crst Malone I’m paid percentage and they have a calculator including all expenses on their website to make that same amount id only have to drive 1750 revenue miles and add some deadhead like 1900 to 2k miles a week less work and o get to pick my own loads. They charge 15 cpm for a maintence account but this pays for everything and gets you a bumper to bumper warranty :) so less risk really then buying my own truck. Yes I know leases suck I did one in the past but it was paying crap per mile and not picking own loads. Malone is more of a real real owner op company all flatbed all owner op. 75% of linehaul and 100% of fuel surcharge they say averages out to 2.4 dollars a mile. And oh yeah I get to pick my own loads no dispatchers screwing me over when I want to go home like hey man we see your going home oh we will get you there give you 2300 miles this week then 1700 this week then you’ll be home with 500 miles that week and when you leave we will #### you even more with short runs all tarped so you don’t ever think about going home again! Boy we don’t want you to have a life! Sorry for ranting didn’t used to be this was at my current company but things have changed since o started a year and half ago. Doing a lot more work for less money lol time to look elsewhere and I hate dispatchers picking favorites and screwing drivers. Would doing crst Malone lease be a good idea? Seems all in all better than where I’m at now. I know I know lease ugh but this is probably the best lease purchase out there hands down you gotta admit!

By the way I have 0 intentions of ever actually owning this crappy gold truck at Malone lol but it’s only 375 a week plus 150 for trailer not bad looks like 1000 total fixed expenses per week I could drive 500 or 600 miles and break even not bad if you ask me. I will however continue saving money and investing to eventually actually buy a truck with cash this won’t be til like 5 or so years from now I have other things I’m saving for

I wonder if CRST will have enough freight for you to pick and choose. One of the biggest issue with their lease is the mandatory non refundable maintenance account. They will charge the maintenance account on odometer miles to include all loaded and empty miles. Then they decide what they will fix on the truck.

Yeah but it’s not that bad from what I read covers a lot of stuff and definately all the big costly expenses basically it’s insurance for your truck in case it breaks. Real owner ops would usually put that money aside anyway for future repairs so it’s not a concern of mine.

If it seems to good to be true, it’s probably not that good. Don’t rely on what the ad says, when you see the actual contract, written by a roomful of lawyers, that’s what the deal really is. Take that to your own lawyer to find out what it really means. There is no such thing as a free lunch! Yes, I’m anti lease. They get the steak, you get the rump with the hole in the middle. Just too many horror stories for me. I don’t know about CRST Malone, but CRST’s reputation is far from good. Tread carefully! Want to read real world stories, use the search box above and type in CRST!

Did you have your lawyer or accountant go over the contract with you? Did you pay your mechanic to inspect the truck?

Malone is run separate from CRST. all the other divisions, you go to orientation, and they'll decide where to put you. Malone is only Malone.

That being said, if you're almost finished with the lease, and they decide not to fix the truck, you're starting again.

Might want to look at TSH and compare. Not saying good or bad about either one. Just being able to look at a similar lease deal might help.

Pay it off, sell it, pocket the money. I know plenty of drivers who have done that.
