I wouldn't count on a $125 check. Read the fine print. It only applies if x amount of people request it. Once x is exceeded, the amount you will receive will go down. If everyone that is entitled to it makes a claim, you are looking at a .31 check coming your way. Don't buy the new flip flops just yet...you may only have enough for a gumball.

 

it actually works the opposite way..

not too many people will even bother to collect the money, they will go with the free monitoring service....so there will be more money left for the lawyers to grab.

as it is now, there aren't any numbers of how many people will even now about this.

many do not read the newspapers, or read online news, and many more throw away snail mailings they get, thinking it's telemarketing crap.

 

Oh boy this will fix everything Equifax screwed up so they think.
Paying people $125 dollars does not give back the security people have lost.
Their really is just ridiculous.

 

I have the CreditKarma app and a Capitol One credit card and I get alerted the second anyone pulls my credit report.

My issue with the people that keep saying to pick the credit monitoring....
Thanks to other breaches I tend to get a free 1-3 years monitoring every 6-12 months. Even if the cash payout is only $20, well it's $20 I didn't have before. I already have credit monitoring and thanks to lax security for well, just about every company, I expect I'll be getting credit monitoring free for the foreseeable future.
And I'm not talking places like Capitol One (which just had a 102 million account breach) but also places one should not have to worry about storing CC info but does like Home Depot.

 

i am sure that by now, you either got the email, or read the news that way too many people have filed, then they anticipated, thus LOWERING that $125.00 amount. they are really PUSHING people to go for the free credit monitoring service, for the 10 years.

i say BS to that....to me, the more that give up that money, the better chances are that i will get "up to" that $125.00..

my hope is that enough people fall for that cry of going for the freebie....

ya know, it's too darned bad they will not have enough money for the payouts....this is thier fault 1000% percent,and they wanna get everyone on thier freebie..??

make'em pay......even if i end up with (say) a mere $25.00 instead of the $125.....

it's to let them know, some of us are sick and tired of the lack of security many of these companies have, yet the irony of it all is that THEY TELL US to have some sort of internet security....watch out for ID theft, and scams....and they get snookered..>??

jerkoff's they are...... and i'll bet anyone here, dollars to donuts, that the alphabet soup board members are still gonna get thier high dollar salaries and benefits and bonuses.....

and they haven't enough money for the claims..?????

like everyone else, i have to wait till at least January of 2020, and i think longer, before i get any compensation...hopefully this thread will still be around, and i'll either say what i got, or supply a photo copy of the check..
