A lot of these keyboard commandos who claim that they "don't take any guff off of cops" are the same ones you see at the front counter in the scale house shuffling their feet and saying "yessir, yessir, yessir". These guys take the word obsequious to a whole new level.
Then they get back in their truck, fire up the CB, and tell everyone dumb enough to listen to them how they told off that cop back at the scale house.

GTA 5 is definitely one of my favorite games the road laws are so loosely regulated you don't even need insurance. I can cut off a car by jumping in their lane with no warning then haul a&& down the opposing lane just to take the off ramp to get to where I'm going. As long as you don't hit a police car you're just fine. And theres definitely no emission laws in GTA.

Here's a good one for you...blatherskite. We just hired an office lady who comes fresh from Ireland and her accent and word choice are a whole lot different than what we're used to hearing around here.
She referred to one of our vendor's salesman as a blatherskite. I had to look it up...but she was right.
It might be a good word here for some of our book-length posters.allniter, deathB4decaf, Bud A. and 2 others Thank this. -

Of course there will always be bad cops, they are human and everybody has their own personalities.
But I have found that regardless of who you are dealing with, being polite and courteous is always better then being rude. Doesn't matter if it's a scale house, checkpoints, DOT, or shipper/receiver. Being polite and courteous may not actually help, but it certainly wont make things worse. "Treat others the way you expect them to treat you"
First thing I always say when seeing them is "Good morning/afternoon, how are you?". It always seems to catch them off guard and they hesitate before responding. They aren't expecting somebody to show them a good attitude so it's like it puts them in a momentary state of bewilderment removing any bad feelings they may be having. I'll even try to make small talk with a DOT officer while he's inspecting my truck, like asking him how long he's been doing the job, if he enjoys it, and what it's like living in the area. Usually do get them happily talking about stuff and we end up chatting about our experiences in the industry or other things while he is inspecting. (not actually a ploy, I genuinely do want to learn about other areas since I've lived in south east PA all my life and would love to move to the midwest).
Even officers if you do something wrong. I got pulled over in Oklahoma for speeding (simple mistake, sped back up after leaving a small town but the limit didn't go back up for another mile or so), pulled into a parking lot for him, and was sitting in the front of his patrol car with him while he was working and we were chatting for a good 20 mins. Ended up not getting a ticket or even a warning.Last edited: Aug 5, 2019
