I took a big john Deere combine across that bridge a couple weeks ago. Not much of a shoulder for a 12' wide vehicle to go across, so I centerlined it the whole way. No police escort, just a quick weigh and a permit scan. I figured it's better to inconvenience a few (a lot) of people than to kill or injure just one butt munch who's in a hurry, so I made myself as wide as possible and didn't let anyone pass.

No. The waves were higher in the storm.

If they did build big 20 foot walls. The waves batter them onto the traffic Crush em all. Then lift the individual sections off the pylons and throw em down.

OR the waves splasy ovey the nice high walls next thing you know you managed to drown 20000 people with waters in between higher than trucks.

I have fought hurricanes many times in life usually in a big rig when caught by one I find a deep hole to my liking then wait. But the idiot that took his truck and trailer into the bay on that bridge in the storm killed himself. St Peter is probably still explaining to him why it was such a stupid move.

Jeeze West. They're right up the road from us. Probably know the guy. They offered me a job a few years ago and I passed on it, I heard they're all owner/op now, which is why there's no uniformity to their tractor colors. Whoever rolled it is gonna eat an expensive bill.

Honeybadger I doubt you took an oversize through there without some drama. The tunnels are two way and they have overheight detectors that stop you at the toll booth. I've had a problem with my airbags and been "sticked" multiple times there (but no ticket:D)

Honestly the Chessy Bay Bridge isn't that high off the water. I think my chances for survival would be better than say the GWB or that one over the canal on 13. The problem would be being dragged to the bottom with the truck or having something from the trailer land on you as you tried to swim to the surface.
