When this guy passed me. (I'm a slow turtle stuck at 63).
It looked like all his chains were tight. But for them only having one binder per side of each machine.
His trailer also had a HECK of a lean to the right. Almost as if, it has different sized tires on the passenger side of the trailer.

Personally, I would do the same with the chains. But use one binder per corner.
SO, yeah 20 binders. But only 8 chains.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I have also been told on a backhoe that the outriggers need to be chained together in case the hydraulics leak off, they won't hang over the edge of the trailer.

First I’ve heard of that one, but it sounds like a wise precaution.

To each his own... I guess if you aren't using chains or edge protectors ya just strap the Hell out of it and pray...

I never used chains on stuff like that, mostly because we didn’t carry any. But I did use felt, pieces of old straps, and old t-shirts to protect my straps.

singlescrewshaker, jamespmack and cke Thank this.

Conveyor belting, firehose and radiator hose chunks are the most rugged freebie edge protectors i have used. Inner tube isnt bad either.
