I haven't run a load through a regular broker in over 4 months, and I don't miss the BS one single bit. They call me every day wondering if I'm available to pick up a load that day 50 miles from my home and drive it 400 miles for $500 bucks. I need to start blocking numbers I guess.

I think mostly it the fact that brokers take most of the money without doing much of the actual work. How often do brokers post or help on trucker issues in this forum. They get money with very little risk.

How much loads pay are affected by the load-to-truck ratio, or more generally, supply and demand. Say you are in CA and there are 100 loads, but 1,000 drivers. Brokers, particularly experienced ones, will take notice as their phones will be ringing off the wall. They know they can safely reject many offers before finding someone willing to pay what he wants.

Now let’s reverse this. In a state with 1,000 loads, but 100 drivers, brokers will notice the lack of calls or inquiries of certain loads. They can only afford to reject so many offers, otherwise, they won’t be able to move the load, and the shipper won’t be happy with the broker. So in these situations, an informed driver/dispatcher can get away with a very high cpm.

Actually the pic is in Ohio I think. It's an 93 white WH. Very nice truck 11 liter 60 series, dual 7 inch stacks, and clean.

That’s how most businesses work. Someone pays someone else.
