That said i have bought some storage trailers at auctions, without really checking them out, but generally paid between 400 and a 1000, and they were storage trailers. -

Depending on where you are you may want to check out hessauctioneers.com . I watch there auctions often and always see early 2000s dry vans going through for $2k-$3k range. They look to have recently come off the road. I'm sure they would most likely need the typical work for a trailer in that price range. Still better to buy it there than off the guy who picked it up and is trying to flip it right away for double.
