If you know your break even mile cost, you can take anything that pays loaded and back with a profit.

Cass Index has a average rate for different regions of the USA call it 2.20 for Reefer...

When I had bought that first tractor we figured breakeven at 1.26 and freight was averaging 1.50 back then. A very long time ago.

But shouldn't a hazmat load pay more than a non hazmat load ??

    I suppose so.

But eh... I guess once the future Federal 5 million or god only knows how much insurance kicks in HM will be going up in rates.

Running hazmat east to west ain't to bad, but I don't care to run it up and down the I95 corridor !!

I'd be willing to bet it goes for under $2.00 mile.

Diesel is over $3 gallon in Reno...I could see small operator losing money on that load.
