Oh...if i was 80k starting up a hill from a stop? Maybe granny low.Typically 2nd gear or even 4th on flat ground light load...a good rev ...and slip the clutch.Company trucks anyway.

Well the rev...so youre not "slipping it " much.Hard to explain, but if you have 10 k in the box...Granny 1st is overkill. A little "rev" to keep from "popping " it too much.I kinda "got away" from the textbook "rowing thu" all gears and decided to "float/skip occasionally. Some trucks needed a rev to compensate for the rpms "falling off" so to speak.

  5. you can get it to start in first gear if you slap it down in the manual
or M. at least on a Volvo i-shift

I had a boss once that would run double with me from time to time when his truck was in the shop.
Caught him starting in 3rd gear one time with a full load, reached out of the bunk and slapped him in the head.
He never did that again, at least not while I was around.

  7. lol.. was it a Gibbs head slap?? lol

    Numb Thanks this.

Half way between a Gibb slap and a Bud Spencer slap.
Enough to cause a bit of pain, not enough to knock him out.

You throw it a rev so you can twist off the drive shft or break an axle.

    starmac and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
