Those who do line haul, food service. What's your day like as far as off time do you get more than 10 hours off . Have any of you returned to OTR, or prefer it?

I get up early in the morning between 12:00am and 3:00am depends on the day and days usually last 10-12 hours most of the day I'm on my feet you don't do much driving with certain food service jobs usually 22-25,000 steps a day anywhere from 1600-2000 calories burned or something like that.
I get more then 10 hours off usually but it's the work week, so you know you come home do whatever and then it's time for work tomorrow it's how it goes. -

I will keep it honest line haul ltl is hard work. It's a job that pays well but it's a lot of politics. I would say if you work hard ltl city or line will be pretty good. But then again it comes down to you as a person.

Now I’m doing LTL linehaul, so I get up around 7:30pm, get to work by 9pm, and I’m headed home around 5:30am. 8 hour workdays are pretty nice, but I’m not exactly rolling in money because of it. As I move up in seniority, I’ll start getting longer days that pay better.
I’ve never done OTR and I don’t intend to ever try it. Nothing beats being able to end every day with getting into my car and driving home to my own bed.Northeasterner, Cardfan89, upnorthwpg and 2 others Thank this. -
It does help to keep you healthier though, line haul and otr are extremely sedentary jobs, without getting meaningful exercise outside of work it would be difficult to stay healthy -
Linehaul when I did it I lost 15 pounds in 2 months coming off the road.
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
