If you eat 3 meals a day every day at the truck stops, you're spending over a grand a month on food alone.

That's too rich for my blood...so I pack the fridge every week.

I don't think anybody "prefers" the first two. As for eating in the truck, I can make what I want, when I want, where I want.

The reality is, if wages had kept up with inflation in this industry, we'd all be making .75-85 a mile minimum, and this wouldn't be a huge issue. But they didn't. So between the speed limiters, stricter HOS enforcement, JIT scheduling, and the decline in pay in this industry that only just recently began to finally correct some (and the ATA is screaming bloody murder about driver shortages again, trying to 'correct' the correction) it's either guys don't have time for a sit down meal, or they can't afford it, so they pack their fridges.

    Knucklehead Thanks this.

I never wanted to eat 3 meals a day when driving a truck, but I sure wanted to have one sit down meal, steak or chicken fried steak and gravy tatars covered with gravy, someone to cook it and someone to set it on the table and refill my coffee cup a few times.
If I wasn't happy with my wages, and for sure if I didn't think I was making enough to eat at least one nice meal a day, I would be doing something else period.

  6. I alternate sometimes two meals a day sometimes one big..
what I like to go for dinner now those I get older used to like the steak and taters and all that good stuff. I like a nice fish and baked potato or grilled chicken and baked potato and a salad bar. one healthy option you can get at least a TA and Petro still..
I used to like those three meals a day but now I do fine on two and some snacking throughout the day..

I generally just did one nice meal, what ever it be, and some snacks. If I stopped for the night and had eaten earlier, I would usually have a piece of pie with coffee, in places that had good pie.
There were times I would eat breakfast for supper, it just depended what I wanted, but I always wanted to sit down and chill at meal time, and was sure ready to get out of the truck.
There only time I would eat 2 or 3 meals are when I would be laid over or taking a 34 and just hanging out, then I might get carried away. lol

Ok ok ok, hold on as a millennial I like but disapprove you message:).
First most drivers company drivers so they can't blindly pick Mom and Pop truck stop.
Sexond Mom and Pop truck stop can get franchise on one of a bigger chain stop name, but keep everything pretty much like before .
3rd. Dude c'mon mom and pops truck stops selling you 20$ bill for meal and that's not to mention that you need to eat something in a morning or evening hello another 10-15$, while in a fridge you can buy few salads, make few sandwiches, and save yourself at least 100$ a week.
And again it's not millennial problem that we don't eat restaurant, is YOUR BABYBOOMERS and Generation X fault for making everything so expensive while building plants and manufacturers facility in China:)

I heard some shocking statistics on the news the other day concerning millennials
I want to say that it was something over 70% of them still get help (money ) from their parents.
30% do not date, because it cost too much.
This one got me, but 22 % does not have even one friend, that explains a lot though.
II forget the exact % but some didn't even have ONE aquaintance. Tell me how is that possible, some of these guys have totally failed at being a human being.
They may blame the dating thing on money, but if you don't have friend or aquaintance in this world, it is going to take money to get laid.lol

  11. actually the Love's family wants every customer to be greeted when possible.. not ignored like they don't care if you're there or not..
