Here in NY I can assure you from first hand experience it’s a disobey traffic device ticket and a free level 2 when you blow one and they send the troops after you.
Not stopping at weigh stations when it’s backed up to the freeway

Last time i went thru banning. They changed the sign from closed to open right as i got up to the sign . ended up pulling in and sat in that ####ing backup for 20 minutes to go across the scale. It really is ridiculous that place should be burned

I don't think I ever stopped at banning headed east, seems like it always had a truck in it but was closed I think. lol

I pulled an oversized and overweight load today from San Diego to Joshua Tree. The northbound scale on I-15 is notorious for creating dangerous conditions. Often the right lane is stop and crawl. Fortunately, the CDOT pulled their heads out and closed the scales.
Westbound approaching Banning the Prepass wasn't working, but the electronic message board said, "Scale Closed, Do Not Enter". I make sure to enter scales when required. But after having a near miss at that northbound I-15 scale south of Temecula, I say they can chase me down. I have a dash cam and rear view cams. They can take me to court.
The idiocy of either turning off the Prepass transponder or not closing the scale when they should KNOW it's backing up into lanes of travel is beyond me. Bypass the ####ing scale.
Anyone remember the fatality wreck that happened eastbound I-20 approaching Atlanta a few years ago? It is PRECISELY because the scales were open, trucks coming over the hill without enough time to stop.D.Tibbitt and GlobalFM001 Thank this. -

i still was very careful to NOT have any accidents, cuz then the lawsuits carry on far into retirement, but if the load in the trailer gets mucked up...who cares..??
if i failed to take some return freight back to the d/c center...who cares..??
when i retired on that saturday when i returned from my route, the following monday morning, i could not get to the DMV fast enough, to turn in my CDL for a class 10 (operators license), and be done with anything CDL or work related.
of course, me, being me.....i carried out the job till the very end, with no problems.
and i don't feel the least be remorseful for turning in my CDL.
now i can smoke dope, get drunk, run scales (they were all closed on my route anyways), speed like a demon, and crash all i want...and no stinking company safety guy that never saw a truck, much less has a CDL, can tell me what a bad, bad boy i am.....
retirement is good.Gatordude and GlobalFM001 Thank this. -
I swear I blow pass them every time I see 1 backed up to the highway. I never believed in sitting on a major interstate while traffic steady moving at high rated speeds while trying to get in a weigh station
Diesel Dave and Lepton1 Thank this. -
That’s exactly what I was worried about, people texting and driving doing 70-80 mph, it won’t take long for them to catch up to a stand still truck.
I figured if they’d chase me I would make it a point to go to court and point out the hypocrisy of a weigh station creating hazardous conditions when their main reason for operating is “safety”Cabinover101 and Lepton1 Thank this.
