Hi, I am looking at several older trucks that are coming up for auction and trying to find out the service history of the engines. I hope that any major repairs done under warranty should come up in the system. What's the best way to go about this? Not sure if a Cat dealer will talk to me since I don't own the units.
The engines are C12s with serial numbers MBL 15347 and MBL 17697. All and any help is appreciated.

MBL 15347 had a piston skirt in the oil pan in 2007. Download in 2015 shows 1013217miles and 39952hrs 355/410hp.

    MBL 17697 had a turbo in 2010. Download in 2013 shows 781572 miles and 21374hrs and 430hp.

    Nothing recent with either.

Thanks Pushbroom. They both have over 1M miles on them now. The previous owner was a large fleet and one would think that they had to rebuild them at some point ?

I would assume so but you never know. Might have just patched them or put jobber parts in. You never know what shape the internals are in. Also its at auction. Quite often people send their problem trucks there. Starting up a truck and driving a couple feet forwards dosnt tell you too much about the internals

    spsauerland Thanks this.

You are right on all counts. I guess if the price is right it's worth a gamble... Thanks for the help.

Off topic I need to get the last digits of a 3406e I've been pondering about.
