I had rotator cuff surgery on both arms 10 years ago and have one heck of a time cutting off the bolt seals with the bolt cutters that most deliveries provide. Even when the blades are in good shape, I generally put one handle on my chest and pull the other handle toward me with both arms. Thinking of buying battery powered bolt cutters for the truck, but the Ryobi only go up to 8mm size and most bolt seals are 10mm plus the plastic covering around them. The cutters I'm seeing online that do larger sizes cost a couple thousand. Anybody have a good alternative?

I've grabbed them with vice grips and just bent them back and forth till they break. You could get a rechargable grinder

this would be a much better option, and of course to have an extra battery as well as a box of cutting disks...

i'd check first with maybe Harbor Freight. then go searching for more expensive brands.

to me, it all depends on how many times in a year, i'd be using that tool, to determine how high a price i'd want to pay

get the longer handled bolt cutters, buy a replacement set of jaws too...no batteries, no abrasive disc to stock.

heaver than the short handles but much more powerful

They are moving to a seal that looks like a bolt but it actually wire rope inside the plastic wrap, much harder to cut through.

I will not allow my drivers to cut any seals, I just dealt with this the past week with a broker who refused to pay when a receiver didn't want to have their people to break the seal and my driver told them if they don't, it goes back to the shipper. They finally broke the seal and unloaded the truck.
