Hey, we have a 2011 international with a maxforce 11 engine and we are having some problems fuel related. Today we drove the truck and then when we shut it off, it wouldnt start again. The fuel filter with the glass cover was empty. We manually primed it but it would only start if one guy pumps and another cranks at the same time. Also there's sometimes a ticking noise coming from the fuel pump area so we are not sure what it might be. Scanned truck with jpro and it has a code SPN 3055 FMI 16 (fuel rail pressure not as expected). Also fuel pressure shows around 58 psi Dont know if thats normal or not. Anybody know what the problem could be? thank you!

Ya maxxforce are pretty bad engines. We been having quite a bit of problems with this one and it only has 80k miles. Its a mixer truck but still low. And everything is very very expensive on them.

58 is low should be more like 100 on the low psi fuel side, that FMI is no good it would be a 15 or a 17, one is rail pressure below minimum with maximum command, and the other is above maximum with minimum command. Either way with either of those it most likely needs a high pressure fuel pump. They fail ALL THE TIME. The only
Thing you could try is make sure the screen in the primer bowl is empty (beside the engine mounted pressure side fuel filter, below the primer pump. take 2 bolts out and it will swivel on the fuel lines that are connected where you can get a 16mm(I think) on the bowl to take it off. And you can bypass the suction side (frame mounted fuel filter) I have seen those suck air and cause no starts before, the priming procedure from navistar is to pump the primer on the engine 200 times, but probably needs a fuel pump. That’s some things you can try to maybe save you some time/money

Hey thanks for the advice. We replaced the fuel pump and it fixed the problem. Our international dealer had like 5 of these fuel pumps in stock and he said they sell them once in a while. So im guessing the fuel pumps are just a defect part that doesn’t last long.
