Certainly hope you got an extra stop fee for having to go back to the first customer after you left

That REALLY SUCKS Mr..... Sorry for you....
Me... I could have pick up my load last Thursday.... I was only 3 miles away the load was scheduled for Friday at 1 pm and shipper wasn't answering the phone and broker couldn't contact them either and I was I didn't want to use driving time to go there to find out cause if they couldn't load me, I would have to go back and didn't want to use PC (personal conveyance) cause if they could load me, I wouldn't be able to change that to driving.... just know that my company and I are very strict about following the rules....
So... when I arrived at the shipper on Friday at 12:45 they told me the load had been ready since Thursday.... The reason the broker and I never got a response from them when we called is that the supervisor was on vacation....
Anyway, my company is paying me one day layover for that....

 

Now I am at a Love's on I-10 west of Houston.... when I arrived I saw this place practically full....
Parked the truck next to a curb and started walking around to check the spots... a guy saw me walking and asked something.... immediately I saw a GREAT spot... and rushed to him and asked if he could save that spot for me... just stand in front of it so nobody would take while I ran to bring the truck... at the same time I saw a truck fixing to back into that spot...
So... I ran to the driver and told him that the guy standing in front of the spot was my friend and he was saving that spot for me... the driver didn't care much and proceeded to back... so I ran to the back of his truck and he and the other guy stood there.... And the driver drove somewhere else.... And I ran to the truck and parked it at the spot....
Offered $5.00 to the guy who helped me but the didn't accept it.... we shook hands and exchanged quick conversation.... BTW... He is parked right next to my truck...

 

How was the traffic coming out on friday evening, was that layover pay worth it. lol
I left San Diego on on a friday evening on Memorial day weekend once, and vowed to never do that again for any reason.
Traffic did not hardly let up, till I hit the river at the Az line

 

CHEAT LOL. I can't belive you did that. lmao.

 

On a very sad note.... I am going to empty my truck on Tuesday when I deliver the next load at my company in OKC and will go to Brasil.... depending on many other things, I may leave from OKC next week or I may leave from GA one week after that.... shall see....

 

In cases like that... layover is never worth it.... I got really pssssed with myself for not driving to the shipper on that Thursday just to find out if the load was ready....

 

Sometimes one does what one can do....
I had no other place to go... Will deliver tomorrow in Houston.... and wasn't in the mood to park on the driveway outside the receiver's gate.... or next to a curb on the street....
