Well, after all was said and done, I am going with Swift after all!

I wouldn't worry too much about being of an advanced age. Flatbed will keep all the joints moving so you aren't as stiff all the time. It keeps the muscles active so you don't end up with moobs or bingo arms. It keeps you moving, which burns calories, which helps keep you from getting fat. If you're careful, you won't fall. Keep your wits about and you won't hurt yourself. I'm 52 now and, while I'm not as spry as I used to be, a lot of these 30-whatevers aren't as fit as I am. Also, you'll see some 70 year olds out here still doing flatbed and even a few women (though many of them don't really *look* like women).

    G13Tomcat and Six9GS Thank this.

It is, pal. Working hard, both in the rig and at the homefront. The Lord's gonna gimme a year (or many months?) of summers, I'm gonna get stuff DONE..... one only wonders what the winter holds, with this. No Spring, no Fall. Winter and Summer. Might as well move to Canada or AK, haha!

as to the O/P ... I really don't have any beefs with or about Swift. I've heard since they've merged (acquisitioned?) with Knight... it's gonna be a little more stringent; and that's not a bad thing~!!!

Keep me in the loop, O/P and YOU TOO, PUP~!!! ;)

    Puppage Thanks this.

Terry, I’m curious as to your experience with their academy. I too have been accepted in their “school” here in California. Wondering if going through their school is worth the money they charge for tuition, with their tuition reimbursement that’s promised. I’m either thinking going through their school here in CA or the Phx. location as we are intending to move back to Phx.

I went to the one in Fontana. Easy pass. It’s like there is no way to fail the class. Just do what the school ask you to do and you will get your CDL. Back then, if you fail you don’t pay. So might be a good gamble.

So far what I see is more stringent shop time.
The 'A' service was added, and the 'B' service takes more time because they check more things.
I'm not complaining because they sometimes find more to fix. I like a safe truck.

I will complain about cutting the shop hours nearly everywhere, so things can get quite backed up and take a lot more time.
If you add time to every service, does it make sense to cut people and hours at the same time?

And to add to that, Knight just closed my terminal. They do not see the need for the IGH terminal anymore, even though there is nothing else better around that area. They certainly don't have something in that area other than a drop yard.
We can still use it as a drop lot and such, for the time being. But if they close it altogether it will make things difficult when I go home and have an mt. That Knight drop yard might be getting pretty full at that point.

I am now assigned to the Menahsa, WI terminal - a terminal I have been to twice in nearly nine years.
My new DM seems OK, and sometimes I am planned from there with decent loads.
I would like to get up there to meet him face to face, along with the other people there.

    G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Thanks for your input.. personally, if I were 'new' to the game, I'd go that route... nonwithstanding the Knight stuff. Do they (Knight) still run Sapa? (or Hydro?)
