Sounds like a plan
And also be aware of bears, before I saw a moose, I saw a big bear standing at a street sign rubbing his back. Was so surprised that I couldn't catch the camera to take a picture!

Finally made it to the port. Ran 3600+ miles from Monday of last week until last Sunday. Told them it would be mid-week or later when I got to the customer. Did a 36 at the ME/NB border. Dispatch called me as I am sitting in line at the port wondering what the hold up was...uhhhh, duh, Church Hill to Houston to Spring Hill to the border in northern Maine in 6.5 days....what do you think the hold up is?
The crazy part is, I planned this so I would take the night ferry over, get a little rest, then hustle across Newfoundland and sleep at the customer. Got to the port just after the morning ship sailed only to find out that they have 3 sailing today, so now I am gonna be on the ship that sails at 1700 which puts me on the island at midnite...wish I had a moose bumper, I really don't want to mate my bulldog with a moose. -
Sun goes up at about 5:30, I would wait till 4:30 before I leave. Newfoundland has about 3 moose accidents per day! Be careful, I wish you a safe trip to St. John's
Lonesome, supersnackbar and 88 Alpha Thank this. -

Made to the island. Relatively smooth trip, just never realized how much rocking a ship that size does in open water. I've never been drunk, but I would imagine that's what it feels like. Made taking a shower in a small shower enclosure interesting. The A/C was out in the drivers tv room, which is all the way aft (in the rear of the boat), sleeping in their reclining seats was impossible. I finally worked my way forward to the forward observation lounge once the bar closed and the crowd thinned out. Yes...they have a bar, a buffet, 2 tv rooms with reclining seats, an exercise/weight room, video game room and a snackbar (besides me). Fairly decked out for a ferry. Managed to nap on the bench seats, but being in the bow, you not only got the side to side rocking, but the up and down motion as well. Got off the ship around 1 a.m. NF time and got 20 miles out if town and found a parking area and grabbed some real sleep until dawn. Once I got up, I rolled on...to be honest, a lot of drivers complain about how rough U.S. roads are, they're nothing compared to NF's roads...mostly their bridges, which there are a lot of. Seems that every mile or two there is a stream or a bogg that has to have a bridge. And the only way to describe most of them is picture a ski jump...my ### has seen more air time than a motocross rider at the X-games, and I am taking it easy.

Your on a paid vacation.Bumper, The Kraut and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Sounds like you had a slight breeze
Was running from Germany to the UK for about 1.5 years every week. Ferry from Zeebrugge Belgium to Dover England and back twice a week. Got used to it. Once I crossed the Channel in Beaufort Force 11, wave height 37 to 52 ft
Never again, this was the worst trip ever. What always worked for me, whenever I entered the boat, I was eating as much as possible, never got really sea sick.
Should have warned you about the roads, seems it's not better than 10 years ago when I was up thereLonesome Thanks this. -

But 37 to 52 footers should do it.
