I received a 14 hour violation, but there’s only one problem.........

Do you not finish reading the posts before you start your rant.

 

Firstly, not a rant just accurate information citing the actual rules, not just making it up.

Secondly, I was writing my post on my phone so your admission of being wrong wasn't posted yet when I started.

Thirdly, get over yourself... you were wrong.

 

The problem is DOT officers don’t like to be shown they are wrong. You have to be very, very nice in explaining to them how they are wrong.

 

they have it marked all the way through a lot of time especially South Carolina just like North Carolina down in the triad it will say no trucks left lane next 38 or 40 miles..bottom line you didn't fulfill it right somebody pointed out the error of your ways and he's absolutely correct read his post you went into violation so you were exactly right to get what you got as far as the log

 

I was extremely nice to him. He asked me to pull into the parking area and did a level 3. As he was finishing up he said that the only problem he could find was my driving without my glasses. I looked at him in the eyes and said "you saw that my glasses were on when you approached me and asked for my license, right?" He refused to answer and just kept writing. It was then I knew he was screwing me and nothing I could say would change his mind. I even asked him to review the video footage of when I pulled onto the scale and when he walked up to my cab. He refused, and I told all of that to DataQ and they still sided with the douche.

The logs look good so far, but we need the rest of the times for the logs posted on comment #2. It stops giving us details after #12. We need to verify you took at least 2 hrs on break after the 8-hr sleeper break and that it was taken before your initial 14-hr clock ended (excluding the 8-hr sleeper pause on the 14).

 

Did the officer have a body cam?

Some 2-3 years ago and during a national inspection week, an officer stopped my trainee at sunset because he thought his headlights were not working. Once I realized the lights were off, I turned them all on, but he still gave my trainee a violation, indicating “defective” headlights. I told him that the description was not accurate, and he said that’s how they categorize it in their department.

It’s very disappointing when DOT officers won’t admit when they’re full of s. It wasn’t even dark, and I know that because I was sitting on the passenger seat while my trainee was driving. I have a feeling he gave him a violation just to prove he was actively at work during the national inspection week.

 

You do realize that most (all?) states you have to have headlights on 30 minutes before sunset (and after sunrise). He might not have been as wrong as you think.
