Sysco is known for great pay so that would probably be a good one to try.

I saw this place on the bus home and was thinking about looking into them. Thank you for all the suggestions! What gets me is the places that say they have a 3 week training program, which really amounts to about 2 weeks of training, then testing for your CDL. CFI went from 5 weeks on manual to 4 weeks on auto, now 3 weeks on auto but planning to go back to 4 weeks on auto because Crowder realizes 3 weeks only gives them 2 weeks to actually train drivers before testing. We were told we might be the last 3 week class and most of us said, “Heck, I should have waited til next week to come then.”

Thank you. Their training at Crowder College is excellent and my group had wonderful instructors. I was having a few issues and chose to go home because I wasn’t sure I could progress at the rate required to complete the school. My class had 6 people in it and I’m positive at least 4 of them will complete the training successfully:)

I’m also considering the fact that perhaps I am not cut out for driving a truck :( Was looking into various jobs at assorted places. Braum’s has an opening on their farm for an artificial insemination technician..... maybe I’ll look into that.

Nobody progresses that quickly, not in anything in life. It's very rare that someone is a "natural." So CFI expects faster than normal progress you think?

Not really. A lot of companies have changed to the 3 week format, which usually consists of 2 weeks of training and a week to test. Crowder does allow 3 attempts on the test. I probably should have stuck it out. My level of frustration was increasing, with the parallel parking, especially the right side one. I knew that wasn’t good. It’s difficult to drive when you’re frustrated. Most people do very well in their program.

I slightly regretted leaving the moment I did.....the past few days I have really been regretting it. About 3 more weeks and I would have had a paycheck, as long as I had passed my CDL exams..... I've been in contact with a guy from my class who says most of them are doing very well. One of them is doing pretty bad and did awful on Friday.... They start testing tomorrow. My former employer had promised I could return to work for him, if trucking did not work out. Turns out he apparently lied to me about that, so I'm job hunting in other fields and strongly considering contacting my CFI recruiter and telling him I made a huge mistake by leaving..... I need money now though :( ugh......

Why didn't you just keep at it til you either failed the test or passed it?
Quitters never win, and winners, never quit.

Because I was getting too frustrated with my inability to parallel park and I realized that frustration and driving a truck do not mesh well...… and there was that nagging fear of failing and owing CFI $6000..... or however much it is.

Well it's good you quit, cuz getting frustrated is a daily occurrence in trucking, or in most jobs.... btw, when you quit, you actually failed.
