You miss my point. You don't have an active mc number and booking loads so no matter what load board you look at, it is just a simulation game.

OK I see what your saying now and I agree but I doubt a broker is gonna last long if he turns down a lot of company's and lies about pay. Also I've seen 1 get very desperate to get the load gone it was steadily going up that day it went up to 4.42 a miles.

Im not saying the lie about the pay. I'm saying the load never existed, or atleast not in the sense that its confirmed, locked down, and still available for a truck to book.

If you see a good load on a free public load board 99% of the time it isn't real. Its too get you to call and they say sorry its coveredbut i got this junk load paying peanuts i can give ya .

If free public load boards that you dont even need an mc# to access were a viable option the subscription based ones that you cant even sign up for without a valid mc number wouldnt be able to compete.

Sure once in a while a real load with a good rate from a reputable broker will show up when they are desperate, but 99% of them either don't exist or are dirt cheap garbage loads. Hint: all 3 of those you posted were crap loads. Heavy cheap lumber.

$25k per year is just an average. Some people can spend 50k the first year after they bought a truck, or some people can only spend 5k.
Better plan for $25k and spend 10k instead of other way around. If you read further into the thread, there are discussions about that

I needed a new charge air cooler. As I don't have the tools to check for leaks, I took it to a shop where I get a good deal on hourly rate. So it needed a new one, and they're around $700 at Kenworth, says the shop. I know I could get one less expensive, but it's already apart, and keeping it while I order one will keep me out of work.

It turns out it was $1,400, not $700, and my total bill was nearly $2,400. They knocked the core charge off, and they didn't fix the problem. It took $5.00 and me changing the hose from the manifold to the compressor to fix it!

Next month I have to do $2,400 worth of work to fix the corrosion on my trailer. Aluminum frame, steel suspension equals aluminum's version of rust jacking.

Always put thick plastic sheeting between steel and aluminum.

That's just stupid. I can wrench on my truck and I do sometimes but I've got better things to do with my time that is more productive so I pay to have my truck worked on. I guess if you have to save labor to make money then maybe you're running too cheap.

I've bought 2 and haven't had an issue with either. And to make it worse, they were both old fleet trucks and we know that fleets don't maintain their trucks very good. You should try giving advice from what you've experienced not what you've heard.

You'll spend 25% in tolls running that area and deal with that traffic all the time, no thanks. Loads don't pay enough. I'll dead head 500 miles for a GOOD load. 150 miles is no biggie. I search for loads in a 200 mile radius usually and I'm not afraid to go get them.

I like you're enthusiasm and that your really want to learn this game but I think you catch a lot of grief because you come here posting stuff like you've done it. You would be much better served and learn more if you came here looking for advice and asking "this is what I've seen/heard and this is what I'm figuring, am I anywhere near correct? Or does this sound right?" Etc...

Some of us here actually do this stuff daily and what looks good on paper doesn't always work in the real world.
