They are city trucks, never more than 10 miles from home base, and we are 2 miles from the Volvo dealer, I’ve odered some see how we go...

Just to let you know guys.I tryed aftermarket one twice. One from ebay one from vovlo(yes they sell aftermarket on too now)They both show me a code spn 1231(harness problem)straight away. After I install Oem one no problem at all. Last one last for 11 months.
I dont know waht is the reason because one of my friends used aftermarket one and is working for him.Mine truck is d13 2013.His is 2011.Maybe its depends of the truck

I've replaced my inlet NOx sensor twice with Chinese ones from Amazon. One of them would show the SPN 1231 FMI 2 immediately after replacing. The other did not initially show codes, but after about 200 miles of driving, the truck was throwing 4094 codes and derating. I wasn't really having consistent issues until I removed the sensor to clean the DPF, so I'm still guessing that it's a sensor problem and not an SCR problem. The next sensor I buy will be OEM.

Check with your dealer, mine says all Volvo parts have a 1 year warranty. At 11 months just take it back and get another.

ive had good luck with aftermarket nox sensor from amazon. I still had the same fault code after 1 day of installing it. day 2 I calibrated it with tech tools and the fault code went away. the nox sensors need to be learned. if you have access to tech tools, save money and buy aftermarket for 75% discount.

the only reason you say this is because you have not been derated on the road anywhere, i would not use an aftermarket sensor on any of my customers ever again had 3 different trucks derate because of those #### things.
