Your right generally I side with the driver however you make a case for them starting here.

My experience is that your following to close, back off, When it beeps your to close.

Then you need a real driver to teach you properly. An engine brake is for maintaining speed not stopping the truck, that is what the brakes are for and you say your tired of using them. I personally prefer a manual transmission also, However its there trucks and you work for them, just drive the truck.
Yes you do, and yes your lucky they took you back, stop whinning about things that do not matter, get a couple of decent years under your belt then move down the road if you want.
Its not what you wake its what you save, I know of guys that are leased on to Apex Bulk out of Adelanto, CA they pat about the same some of them do well other loose there butt's, difference is how they handle their money, If you can't budget and save it won't matter what you make. Drivers that run around spending and buying everything they see because they deserve are always broke. A tractor with 500K has the potential to go either way , have a real mechanic check it out before hand. Theres good and bad about every company, the good about SWIFT is they have loads, the bad is they are cheep. But get on to a dedicated account and you can do alright.

It isn't the ditching of the truck, it is the rest of the story that bothers me,

Yea, a lot of people post here and find out it tends to be truth oriented and not necessarily going to tell them what they want to here.

Or maybe he just had something to do besides consult the interwebs all day.

Plenty of places will hire you if the insurance will cover you. I suggest staying employee until you know more. Self dispatching as an employee will be a huge learning experience even if only briefly.

Dont lease into a cpm/dpm format. O/O is a percent of linehaul or ratecon world. Dont give up more than 30% tops and thats with liability/cargo insurance covered by the carrier.

    For instance $2.25/mile - 30% to leased carrier = $1.58/mile.

2.25 isnt anything special and 30% is a big chunk of fees yet its still way better than that 1.32 at swift and you arent forced to go where they want or deal with their policies.

That probably explains why the trucking companies they lease to usually make a much better living than the owner ops doing the work and incurring the big expenses.

Depends on the company you lease onto. You just have to do your homework
