I-75 in Tennessee mile marker 124.6 semi trailer burnt, south bound closed

Wow. Possible reefer malfunction or thermo event?

 

Backs completely burnt. Probably driving with tandem brakes on.

 

I guess that is one hot load!

 

This was my thought too... Had a brake or bearing dragging pretty bad... Then WWWHOOOOOFFFF!

 

Looks like he dropped the landing gear, cranked way high up, and got the tractor the hell out of there, tho~!

 

I don't know. I fought brake fires that generated a tall flame that threatened the duals over it. Managed to put that one out that one time and others.

It is a reefer for sure, no reason other for a fuel tank on it. I have a feeling the reefer suffered a fire event in the engine or emissions etc. You cannot run reefers as long and as hard as we do without at least one burning up now and then.

Now there is other damage which leads me to think on the situation to have a story behind just a fire. Some of you are pretty good at writing it from the evidence for all to see.

 

Why would the front and back burn with hot brakes , not surprised some of the reefers I spot are leaking oil like the Exxon Valdez , amazing some alligator armed outfit would run a 20 year old trailer on perishables.

 

Could of forgot to unset his brakes , in this day and age would it surprise you?
With there autoshifts , GI.Joe headsets and sweatpants.

 

Brakes catch fire igniites rear of trailer which is quickly engulfed as yhe fire is fed oxygen from air rushimg over trailer as it travels down the road. Driver finally stops to unhook and the fire spreads forward inside trailer burning product containers. Once fire reaches reefer unit, the flow of air through the reefer fan literally draws the fire into reefer unit. The fire then begins to consume oil, fuel, and anything else that else in its path... Thereby thoroughly torching reefer unit.
