I found a reciever on night up north of Houston, And I could get my truck off the road on their property, but I would block most of the entrance. There was a bar across the road and next to it a vacant gravelled lot, that was empty. I just parked in it and went to bed,
When the bar closed someone knocked on my door pretty hard, I got up and some drunk wanted to charge me rent, to pars on his lot.
I doubt it was his, but couldn't argue the point, so I ask how much. lol 200 bucks he tells me, so I said, well you just priced your self out of business, I will just leave. I walked back in the sleeper to put my pants on and he started beating on the door hard. I jumped back up there and told him if he touched my truck again, only one of us was leaving that lot. lol
I still think he was just a drunk, but really had no idea if he really owned it or not, so I pulled over across the road. lol

Over the years I have had people knock and get me up for a variety of reasons. Police looking for some gal that a driver was suppose to be holding against her will.
shippers, recievers, other drivers needing help, bums wanting money or gas, erection eradication technicians probably the most. I have even hee in Alaska been parked way out of town in a roadside pullout along the river, and had a lot lizard knock, I am like what do you need. I'm thinking she had trouble, and she said she wanted to make me happy. lol
I told her I was one happy sob until she woke me up. lol

Can you accept criticism? How about giving me a recommendation on where you buy your vaseline?

You want to handle work related phone calls all night long instead of sleeping?

Laws are actually invented to protect you from working 24/7. No wonder companies expect drivers to just roll over all the time without complaint when folks like you willingly give up any and all hours of your life to be used however the company sees fit. You epitomize the spineless character flaw of champions of work ethic, who are actually simply too afraid to say “no.”

Working 70 hours per week, week after week is a good work ethic. Putting yourself on call at all hours outside of this is just being a pushover.

Look folks I’ve been at this job constantly for two years. The only way it works is by setting boundaries.

Do you take hometime? If so, you’re weak. Man up and work! Want to have a life outside your job? Grow up!

Not two weeks ago dispatch said I would have to swap with a team. I told them where I was stopping dropped my trailer and went off duty. I guess I was being too stuck up then as well.

Mmm, a driver should never trust anyone that comes up and knocks on the door asking for the trailer without getting word from their company first. The company should have sent them a message first.

Nobody can be bothered, yep, time to move on. :)

Always answer the door when someone knocks. They might be trying to tell you your trailer is on fire.

SteveScott, Opus, LoSt_AgAiN and 2 others Thank this.

I’m not understanding why it’s automatically assumed by most posters in here that the knocker in question was in fact NOT up to some sort of no good. Have any of you ever been robbed?

I'm trying to imagine the bs of dealing with a fellow company driver who won't get his butt out of bed for two minutes to drop a trailer...
