I have never used loose leaf logs.
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
It's actually pretty simple. 8 hours in the sleeper stops your clock. You get back whatever time you had remaining when you stopped. Then another 2 hours in sleeper gives you the rest of a fresh 14.
You can do a 8/2 as many times as you want. No requirement to ever take a 10. BUT the 8 must come first.InTooDeep and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
§395.1 Scope of rules in this part.
(g)Sleeper berths
(1)(D)(ii) Specific requirements. The following rules apply in determining compliance with paragraph (g)(1)(i) of this section:
(A) The term “equivalent of at least 10 consecutive hours off duty” means a period of
(1) At least 8 but less than 10 consecutive hours in a sleeper berth, and
(2) A separate period of at least 2 but less than 10 consecutive hours either in the sleeper berth or off duty, or any combination thereof. -
The fmcsa pdf i read on it last night actually stated you can take the 2 or the 8 first, your choice.
-
But if I take 8 hours in sleeper. The eld will click over and say I have all 7 hours still. Then at any time after that I take another 2 hours in sleeper. It will give me another 7 hours back. -
Ive never run on eld. Would probably be terrible at it.

Yes only the 8 sleeper stops ur 14 the 2hr break doesnt stop clock
-
The more I read all of this the more confusing it is.
silver dollar Thanks this. -
It’s pretty simple, whatever you don’t use on one side of your break you get to use on the other side. 14 stops on 8 hr break, doesn’t stop on 2 hr break. Can do all week if you like. Can even do consecutive 8 hr breaks but you don’t really gain anything with that.
