From what I understand, it is usually around 30 days before a suspension hits the field, but then again if the bank is the one that pulled the plug, it is likely the dot # is still good.
She did the right thing

I did not think she was a O/O
She behaved like a Company driver I suppose.
I am a little cold hearted when it comes to conflicts of business or trucking. She did say she was sorry to leave trailer and all of that.
I don't think any of that mattered as soon the company ceased to exist. That brings up problems of insurance. Would she be persoanlly liable if the whole thing slammed into a bus? Maybe even for vehicular theft?
I hate to ask questions but when a company closes, they are closed. -
Unfortunately, times have changed. I personally got asked by two people for a ride home, I don’t know if they happened to be drivers but I knew I couldn’t do it for 3 reasons.
1. I have taken out my passenger seat
2. My insurance
3. I really don’t know if the guy is a psycho or not.
This aint the 70’s 80’s or even the 90’s man. You seen The drivers today?
As for the women who got stranded.
Simple solution
Park truck and trailer.
Figure out how to get home. No money? Well best thing to do is ask for help.Cabinover101, x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I guess I am just different, I will still give rides, I still have my seat, can't imagine taking it out. lol
My insurance has never mentioned a rider one way or the other. there is a law against, but I can, have and will work around that when someone needs help.
If one was an obvious phycho, I wouldn't but life is too short to worry about everybady I meet, and this coming from a guy whose dad was killed by a hitch hiker.LoneRanger and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I have provided assistance ONCE in a blue moon. To say I did not would be lying.
Fast forward to today's situation Passenger Policy etc and chance of a mentally bent person or god only knows what else. I pretty much am out of rides the same way I am out of giving cold cash to beggars or shysters. The more this Society degrades the easier it is to do nothing. OR call the law and let them take care of it and be on your way.
The last time someone tried to flim flam me with fast talk face to face, I turned my back on him and essentially disregarded the pitter patter, reminded me of three card Monte at the table. The kind you lose because the ball falls out off the table's edge under the cup.
IF the person had a issue with me ignoring him, I point to giant ears and go "EEH?"
oh you deaf and stupid too.
What happens from that point will depend on how fast or slow he moves. -
TankerP, Cabinover101, mitmaks and 2 others Thank this.

I guess so, I am just not wired to worry about something bad might happen, like I said, glad I will never have to deal with the situation down there anymore if this is what our little part of the world has come to.
I need to make one more trip one of these days, then I will basically not have a reason to go back, at least in a truck.LoneRanger, x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
So if some lush trips on your fuel tank and breaks his nose on your mirror on the way down... youre covered.
