I've heard both good and bad of the MBE 4000 motor. What's everyone's thought on them, a found a lot of these locally in my search for another dump truck. The ones I've looked at, 2 are at 450 horse and the other was at 410, from what I've found is these do alright on short hauls but didn't last as well in the over the road stuff.

They aren't designed to last as long as a big block, but they are lightweight, and many issues have been addressed with updates.

I had a 2005 EGR MBR4000 in a Cascadia. They did have problems in the early years. The biggest problem was a lack of parts back then now not so much. In December of 2006 it blew a head gasket on one of the heads. No problem right, wrong! It took 26 days to scrounge enough parts to get it back together. All the heads were non EGR and had to be replaced. the biggest hold up was the gaskets. Today the head bolts and gaskets are much better than back then. I drove that truck for 700,000mi with the only other problems being the center exhaust manifold cracking and the EGR log needing replacement about every 100,000mi under warranty.

My dad ran one in a Freightliner Columbia, great motor! Had well over 300k on it with no issues. It did bog on the hills but I think it had really high rears in it. They sound amazing when they're straight piped too
