In other countries people recharge their AC with propane.

Dometic makes chest coolers with compressor instead of peltier but not cheap. Quiet generators are sold here and there, including Costco.

2 lbs of liquefied flammable gas will create boom-boom in the cab if system leaks. I know driver was killed with starting fluid. Can was punctured in accident, spark and tragedy happens.
IDK is refrigerant odorized or no.

1st off, a can of starting fluid that shouldn't really even be in the cab of the truck, where I'll assume it was loose and thats how it got punctured, is different than refrigerant in a sealed system in an appliance that should be mounted securly.

Think about the circumstances of a can of starting fluid getting punctured, then subsequently catching fire via spark in the can of a truck. That is far from an everyday occurance.

In the olden days some systems (cars?) used chlorine as a refrigerant. If the refrigerant was burned in produced phosgene gas.

When i had my Volvo with USX back in ‘06-‘07 i ran a 4.3cuft mini on a 1,500 watt inverter. I could leave it running for a 34 in the summer time with the engine off and not have any problems. We had no apu’s back then.

I wouldn’t worry about it, i liked my fuel bonus at the time so i rarely idled the truck & it never gave me an issue

Your truck is way more flammable then any fridge, Def burn at like 400 degrees, all the wires in a truck etc...

It's fine for me. I bought a mid grade unit at Lowe's. It's just short of the bottom of the window on the passenger side. I pulled the seat. Strapped it thru the bolts. I have foam from the box underneath it, so i can open.the door and as added vibration dampening. I never leave it plugged in more than 18 hours with out running the engine. Usually the inverter will chirp or the bunk heater turns off. Around 14 hours, I watch TV and have the lights on. A fridge draws like 60 watts to run 400 to start.

O I have 4 batteries too. I think you could leave it plugged in all weekend in Chicago during October. But Houston in August, where I park often. It's easier to run the engine every 6 to 10 hours to charge the batteries for the TV, lights, fan, ect. I have a generator for an AC unit too.

Kinda what I thought but wasnt sure. Never realized that the refrigerant was flammable(never gave much thought to it I guess) and as for the dukes of hazzard style of driving, I lost that years ago. I hate hitting a hole too hard, mostly bc I dont want the downtime of what that causes and bc I dont need stuff all messed up inside the trailer. Lol

Not so much worried about the refrigerant as to how these things r holding up to the vibrations of the road so they dont leak said flammable vapor inside my truck. Lol.

You need to educate yourself what is flammable what is combustible, what is flashpoint.
Lastly, if you can ignite DEF i will pay you $1,000.00 cash.

Factory fridge has served me well and is working strong for 23 years and counting in my w9.

I’ve also had regular mini fridges I bought at Lowe’s for roughly $110-150 if I remember right with separate freezer door section. Both have had over 5 years with no issues. I use this inverter: Ampeak 2000 watt from amazon pretty cheap.

Factory fridge and the fridge plus inverter listed above I could leave all night running with no issues with the truck off. I’ve even done a 24 hour day before with both by accident and it was fine.
