Thanks so much for the info Mike and Bear.

When things like this end in tragedy, it is certainly unfortunate for everyone involved.

Less than 1/2 of these had anything to do with "falsifying LOG BOOKS".
    There was THEFT (from Customs),
Theft (and fraud) by a Broker,
    CDL Testing Fraud,
trucking company owner gets prison for BRIBERY,
trucking company officials get prison for TAX FRAUD,
multiple stories about the same California Company,
and one fairly generic story that is a thinly veiled advertisement for "The DOT Doctor". Perhaps you should FIRE "Google".

True, but they were all extremely helpful to me. Just about any information is useful.

Thanks again Mike, and others who have responded.

Now if we could get the FMCSA to educate our shippers and receivers about what is expected on our logs and HOS.....
Seems most of the ones I encountered when I mention that I'm up against the HOS, they tell me it's my problem. Not the fact that they take 8 hours or more to load and then still expect me to run 1200 miles in under two days......to include the loading time....

They say "Map quest says it only takes 2 days...."......:biggrin_25526:

I don't know what the answer is. Better pay would definately help the driver's to do it legally. As far as FMCSA getting involved with shippers and receivers, don't hold your breath. As long as there is carriers hauling freight under cutting the rates nothing will get better. It's been down hill since "deregulation" in the 80's. My old man and uncle were making more then than guys are now hauling the same freight. Too many A-hole companies, hauling cheap freight. Driver's who need paychecks and other's who don't care about any regulation or rule, but either way the driver is held to the fire to get the load from point A to point B. Most driver's do what they are suppose to for any number of reasons. The few that do the illegal activities give a bad name to all. It's like I said in numerous posts before, A few bad apples give all a bad name. It doesn't matter what prefession you are in, it's that way in every profession. It's that way with your own family. Everyone, it doesn't matter who you are, have one jack a Z Z in the family that everyone talks about. If your family is like mine, you have more than 1. Hell I've locked up two of my own cousins. Makes for a good time at the family reunion. Good luck, just be careful with your logs, log it the way you did it and do it legal for less hassel. Logs R'Us can give you some pretty good advice. Psanderson has given quite a few examples in many posts about the end results of screwing your log up.

Tell them to have MapQuest carry the load, and see how soon it gets "there".
